Senior Accountant – Eastward Energy, Dartmouth

What You Will Do:
As the Senior Accountant, you will play an essential role within our Finance team, participating in full cycle accounting, reporting to the Manager, Finance & Accounting. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and related reporting.
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain account reconciliations to support month-end and year-end close activities with clear documentation supporting the financial statements and audit needs
- Troubleshoot accounting or process related issues, perform technical analysis and interpret results.
- Assist in processing accounts receivable.
- Serve as the key Accounting team resource for Eastward Energy’s financial reporting (JDE) and billing (SAP) systems.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests.
- Assist and coordinate insurance and tax filings as needed.
- Assist with regulatory filings, compliance requirements and other finance-related projects and initiatives.
- Respond to ad-hoc requests from departments across the organization and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
What You Will Need to Succeed:
This position has the following occupational requirements:
- Post-secondary education in accounting (degree or diploma) or equivalent related experience.
- Minimum of five years of accounting or finance experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Strong experience using financial reporting and ERP systems, with JD Edwards and/or SAP considered an asset.
