Construction Manager
Location: Ontario (Travel to project sites required)

Position Summary
Solana Energy is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead field operations on commercial and utility-scale solar construction projects throughout Ontario.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for directing all on-site construction activities, supervising field personnel, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining safety compliance, ensuring quality workmanship, and driving production targets. The Construction Manager serves as the senior field representative and is responsible for the successful execution of work in the field.
The ideal candidate will possess 7–10 years of construction management experience, including experience managing multiple crews and subcontractors on large-scale construction projects. Applicants with direct solar construction experience and knowledge of solar energy systems will be given priority consideration.
Key ResponsibilitiesField Leadership
- Direct and oversee all daily construction activities on site.
- Manage supervisors, forepersons, team leads, subcontractors, and labour crews.
- Establish daily and weekly work plans to ensure efficient field execution.
- Monitor productivity and workforce performance.
- Identify and remove obstacles affecting site production.
- Ensure crews are working safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
Site Operations
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, tools, and materials required to complete work.
- Monitor site logistics, material storage, deliveries, and site organization.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained to meet production targets.
- Coordinate activities between Solana crews and subcontractors.
- Participate in site planning meetings and execution reviews.
Health & Safety
- Enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
- Lead site safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Conduct site inspections and hazard assessments.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation and project requirements.
Quality Control
- Ensure all work is completed according to project specifications, drawings, manufacturer requirements, and company standards.
- Conduct regular quality inspections throughout construction activities.
- Identify deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
- Support commissioning preparation and turnover activities.
Solar Construction Oversight
- Oversee the installation of solar energy systems including:
- Ground mount solar arrays
- Racking systems
- PV module installation
- DC collection systems
- Inverter and equipment pad areas
- Underground and above-ground solar infrastructure
- Coordinate with electrical contractors and commissioning teams.
- Ensure solar installation activities are completed safely and according to design requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 7–10 years of experience in Construction Management or Senior Site Supervision
- Proven experience managing multiple crews, supervisors, and subcontractors
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, site operations, and workforce management
- Knowledge of solar energy systems and solar construction practices
- Experience working on commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or utility-scale projects
- Strong understanding of Ontario health and safety requirements
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License
- Clean driving record and ability to operate a company vehicle
Preferred Qualifications
- Utility-scale solar construction experience
- Renewable energy project experience
- Electrical construction experience
- Gold Seal Certification
- COR, CSTS, Working at Heights, First Aid, or related certifications
