About The Role:
Station Place Long-Term Care Home is seeking an experience and passionate Director of Care to join our leadership team for a 12-18 month contract.
Reporting to the Administrator, the Director of Care is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and management of the Home's Care Department. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality resident care while maintaining compliance with legislative requirements, professional standards, and AON's commitment to excellence.
Working closely with residents, families, physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and corporate leadership, you will foster a culture of collaboration, continuous quality improvement, and resident-centred care. This role offers the opportunity to lead an engaged clinical team while supporting innovation, professional development, and exceptional outcomes for residents.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide strategic and operational leadership for all clinical care services within the Home.
· Ensure compliance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, Ministry requirements, College of Nurses of Ontario standards, and AON policies and procedures.
· Lead quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, risk management activities, and performance monitoring to promote excellence in resident care.
· Oversee the Home's Infection Prevention & Control (IPAC) program, quality assurance activities, and clinical indicator reporting.
· Monitor resident outcomes and ensure care is delivered in a safe, respectful, and person-centred manner.
· Recruit, mentor, coach, and support nursing leadership and care staff through performance management, education, and professional development.
· Foster positive labour relations while working collaboratively within a unionized environment.
· Manage departmental resources, including staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and clinical supplies.
· Collaborate with physicians, Public Health, external partners, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
· Participate in the Administrator on-call rotation and provide leadership during outbreaks, emergencies, and other operational situations as required.
· Support continuous quality improvement initiatives and organizational projects that enhance resident care and operational excellence.
Qualifications
· Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
· Minimum one (1) year of nursing experience in long-term care.
· Minimum three (3) years of leadership, management, or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
· Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent education preferred.
· Thorough knowledge of Ontario long-term care legislation, clinical standards, accreditation requirements, and funding models.
· Demonstrated leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and team-building skills.
· Strong understanding of quality improvement, Infection Prevention & Control (IPAC), risk management, and evidence-based clinical practice.
· Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
· Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
· Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications.
