Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, versatile, and safety-conscious Construction Labourer for a fixed-term contract. In this role, you will perform physical tasks supporting project deliverables across municipal infrastructure (with a heavy focus on bridge construction & rehab), industrial facilities, and residential job sites.

Key Responsibilities:
General Site Operations & Maintenance
- Load, unload, identify, and distribute construction materials to work areas using wheelbarrows, hoists, and manual techniques.
- Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and safety barricades.
- Remove rubble, debris, and hazardous waste from construction sites using rakes, shovels, and site cleanup tools.
- Perform routine maintenance on job site equipment, including oiling and greasing hoists, pumps, and compressors.
- Maintain an organized, efficient, and hazard-free job site at all times.
Trades & Equipment Assistance
- Assist skilled tradespersons (carpenters, bricklayers, cement finishers, ironworkers, roofers, and glaziers) with daily construction activities.
- Tend, feed, and operate equipment such as concrete/mortar mixers, air compressors, pneumatic hammers, vibrators, tampers, and pumps.
- Direct and signal traffic at or near construction sites to ensure pedestrian, marine, and crew safety.
- Perform building/structure demolition using prying bars and power tools; sort, clean, and pile salvaged materials.
Sector-Specific Duties
- Municipal Projects (Bridge Construction & Rehabilitation):
- Assist with bridge deck pouring, concrete patching, formwork erection/stripping, expansion joint installation, and structural repairs.
- Perform surface preparation including concrete chip-outs, pressure washing, rebar tying support, and sandblasting prep.
- Level earth, gravel, and aggregate to fine grade specifications using rakes and shovels for abutments, approaches, and trench preparation.
- Support utility relocation, pipe alignment, drainage setup, roadway/approach asphalt spreading, and work-zone traffic control setup.
- Industrial Projects:
- Support plant modifications, site preparation, and heavy equipment staging.
- Assist with rock drilling, blasting preparation, or specialized surface machinery operations as required.
- Strictly adhere to industrial safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space, and hazardous material safety.
- Residential Projects:
- Assist with home framing support, concrete pouring, site grading, and landscaping.
- Support interior/exterior renovation cleanup, drywall preparation, and demolition tasks.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Availability: Immediate availability for the duration of the contract period ([Start Date] to [End Date]).
- Experience: 3+ years of general construction experience required (experience with bridge work, civil concrete, structural rehab, or municipal infrastructure is a major asset).
- Skills: Comfort using pneumatic tools, hand/power tools, concrete mixers, and basic grading tools.
- Licensing & Transport: Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to various job sites.
- Certifications (Asset): Working at Heights / Fall Protection, WHMIS, Traffic Control/Flagger, First Aid, or Confined Space Entry are highly valued.
- Attributes: Strong team player, reliable punctuality, ability to follow verbal and written directions, and a strong commitment to site safety.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials (50–75+ lbs) regularly.
- Comfort working at elevated heights (scaffolding, bridge decks) and over water where applicable.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain).
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, crouch, and perform continuous physical labor for long shifts.
- Must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times (steel-toe boots, hard hat, high-vis vest, safety glasses, fall harness when required).
Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Belleville, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Experience:
- Construction Labourer: 3 years (preferred)
