About Agi3 Risk Services
Agi3 Risk Services is a Canadian-owned insurance brokerage and Managing General Agent specializing in agriculture, agribusiness, and related commercial sectors.
We provide farm property and casualty, commercial agribusiness, and private crop insurance solutions across Western Canada. Our brokerage and MGA capabilities are supported by agricultural expertise, strong insurer relationships, and a modern technology platform.
We are growing and are looking for an accomplished commercial insurance producer who wants to build a meaningful book in a specialized market.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Insurance Producer to originate, develop, and close new business in farm property and casualty, commercial agribusiness, and selected adjacent commercial lines.
This is a senior production role with clear accountability for building a qualified pipeline, winning new clients, and developing a meaningful and profitable book of business. It is not primarily an account-servicing position.
You will work with commercial farms, agribusinesses, and related businesses with significant property, machinery, fleet, liability, business interruption, and other commercial insurance needs. You may also pursue selected opportunities in adjacent sectors where the risk aligns with Agi3’s expertise and insurance-market relationships.
You will lead client discovery, risk and policy reviews, coverage strategy, insurer negotiations, and proposal presentations. You will remain strategically involved in the accounts you produce while working with Agi3’s account-service, underwriting, claims, and operational teams to deliver strong ongoing execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate and close new business in farm property, commercial agribusiness, and related commercial lines, with accountability for agreed production and revenue targets.
- Build and maintain a qualified pipeline through direct business development, referrals, professional relationships, and industry involvement.
- Lead the client relationship from initial discovery through proposal, placement, and ongoing strategic account management.
- Develop a thorough understanding of each client’s operations, exposures, insurance requirements, and business priorities.
- Review existing insurance programs, identify material coverage gaps or valuation concerns, and develop practical recommendations.
- Direct submission and placement strategy, working with service and underwriting staff to prepare high-quality submissions.
- Negotiate coverage, pricing, capacity, deductibles, and policy terms with underwriters and insurer partners.
- Present clear recommendations that help clients understand their coverage options and relevant trade-offs.
- Remain strategically involved in significant renewals, claims discussions, and changes affecting the accounts you produce.
- Build productive relationships with clients, insurers, underwriters, referral sources, and industry participants.
- Maintain accurate pipeline, forecast, client, and activity information in Agi3’s systems.
- Collaborate effectively with account-service, underwriting, claims, Finance, and leadership teams.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- At least 10 years of commercial property and casualty insurance experience, including significant experience in a producing role.
- Demonstrated success personally originating and closing commercial insurance business and building or materially growing a profitable book.
- An active general insurance agent or broker licence in your province of residence.
- Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain any additional provincial licences required for the role.
- Experience with mid-market or larger commercial accounts involving property, equipment, liability, automobile or fleet, and business interruption exposures.
- Strong knowledge of commercial P&C coverage, underwriting requirements, and placement processes.
- Ability to assess business operations, identify material exposures, and develop practical insurance recommendations.
- Experience directing commercial submissions and negotiating coverage, pricing, capacity, and policy terms with underwriters and insurers.
- Strong business-development, relationship-building, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Ability to communicate complex insurance matters clearly to business owners and senior decision-makers.
- Strong pipeline-management, forecasting, organizational, and documentation discipline.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with a distributed team.
- Residence in Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba and legal authorization to work in Canada.
- Ability to travel for client meetings, industry events, and team activities as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct production experience in farm property, commercial agribusiness, or related agricultural insurance.
- An established professional network within agriculture, agribusiness, or related commercial sectors in Western Canada.
- Experience with larger, complex, or multi-entity commercial accounts.
- Experience with specialized, multi-insurer, or non-standard placements.
- Experience working with an MGA or delegated-authority program.
