Hospitality People & Operations Coordinator
Restaurant / Food & Beverage Experience RequiredFull-Time | Blue Mountain / Collingwood Area
If you love restaurants AND you love finding great people, this might be your role.
We are a growing independent hospitality company operating several distinct food and beverage concepts in the Blue Mountain and Collingwood area, including restaurants, fast-casual concepts, coffee, bakery, bagels, matcha and seasonal resort operations.
We are looking for a Hospitality People & Operations Coordinator to help us find, hire, onboard and support the people who make these businesses run.
We are specifically looking for someone who has worked in restaurants, cafés, quick-service food or another hands-on food & beverage environment. You need to understand what a busy Saturday looks like, what makes a great server or counter person, why availability matters, and the difference between someone who interviews well and someone who will actually succeed on a restaurant floor.
A portion of your week will be spent on recruitment and people administration. A portion will be spent physically working within our locations and alongside our teams.
What You’ll Actually Do
Recruitment
- Write and post job advertisements
- Review applications and identify promising candidates
- Conduct initial phone/Zoom interviews
- Coordinate in-person interviews with managers
- Proactively search for candidates when applications aren’t enough
- Maintain an active recruitment pipeline, particularly during our busy seasonal hiring periods
- Help us get better at identifying people who will actually succeed in hospitality
Onboarding & People Coordination
- Prepare offers and onboarding documentation
- Coordinate new-hire paperwork and system setup
- Make sure new employees are properly introduced, trained and ready for their first shifts
- Follow up with new hires and managers during the first weeks of employment
- Maintain organized employee records and hiring trackers
- Coordinate employee reviews and other people-related processes
- Help managers stay accountable for training and development
Restaurant Operations
- Spend scheduled time working within our businesses
- Learn our different concepts, positions and operating standards firsthand
- Work alongside our teams during scheduled operational shifts
- Observe employees in the actual work environment — not just on paper
- Help identify training, staffing and performance gaps
- Support managers during busy periods and seasonal transitions
Who We Think Will Be Great at This
- A manager who discovered that hiring and developing people is the part of the job you love most
- A hospitality coordinator with hands-on restaurant experience
- A recruiter who previously worked in restaurants or food & beverage
- A strong restaurant operator looking to move into the people and recruitment side of hospitality
- Someone with hospitality management experience who loves interviewing, training and building teams but doesn’t necessarily want to be a General Manager
You are naturally warm, approachable and comfortable talking to people.
You communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
You’re organized enough to keep track of dozens of candidates and onboarding steps without losing the human side of the process.
Most importantly, you understand hospitality because you’ve actually worked in it.
What This Position Is NOT
This is not a senior HR management position.
It is not an office-only position.
It is not remote.
It is not a Monday-to-Friday administrative job.
And it is not a role where you’ll recruit restaurant employees without spending time inside the restaurants yourself.
This is a hands-on hospitality position with a strong focus on people, recruitment and onboarding.
Requirements
- Previous hands-on restaurant, café, quick-service or food & beverage experience
- Comfortable working scheduled operational shifts within our locations
- Strong spoken and written English communication
- Confident interviewing and speaking with candidates
- Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple priorities
- Comfortable with technology, scheduling platforms and online recruitment tools
- Reliable transportation between locations
- Weekend availability when required by the business
- Previous hiring, interviewing, onboarding or management experience is strongly preferred
If you’re a restaurant person who loves the people side of the business, we’d like to meet you.
When applying, please tell us briefly about your hands-on restaurant or food & beverage experience and what interests you about moving further into recruitment, onboarding and people development.
