Position Overview:
The Marine Technician is responsible got diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining boats. PWC’s, and marine systems while ensuring all work is completed accurately and documented properly. Technicians work from the service scheduler on Lightspeed and are responsible for completing assigned Repair Orders (ROs) efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
Repair Order Management:
o Review assigned jobs through the Lightspeed scheduler and complete work according to the scheduled workflow.
o Clock in and out of each RO to accurately track labor time.
o Enter detailed notes, diagnostic findings, and repair information directly into the RO.
o Ensure all work completed on the unit is properly documents before the RO is closed.
Diagnostics and Repair:
o Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and system issues on marine units.
o Preform repairs, maintenance services, and warranty work according to manufacture and company standards.
o Test units following repairs to confirm proper operation before completion.
Work Place Professionalism:
o Arrive at work on time and prepared to begin the day’s scheduled work.
o Maintain a professional attitude and strong attention to detail in all work performed.
o Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Tool and Equipment Care:
o Properly maintain and care for all company tools and equipment that you borrow.
o Avoid unnecessary damage or loss of company tools.
o Permission must be requested before using tools that belong to another technician.
Performance Expectations:
o Complete assigned jobs efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship
o Accurately track time on ROs by clocking in and out of jobs on Lightspeed.
o Maintain clear and through documentation on all ROs.
o Strive to complete work correctly the first time to minimize rework or comebacks.
Safety and Workplace Standards:
o Follow all company safety procedures when operating tools, equipment, and marine units.
o Use proper lifting equipment and safety practices when moving or working on boat components.
o Maintain a safe and clean work environment within the service department.
Communication and Team Collaboration
Marine Technicians work closely with the service team, including CSRs, Service Coordinator and the Parts Department.
Technicians are expected to:
o Communicate promptly when additional parts or information are required.
o Report additional issues or repairs discovered during diagnostics.
o Support the overall workflow and efficiency of the service department.
Care of Customer Units
Marine Technicians are responsible for treating all customer boats and equipment with care and respect.
Technicians must:
o Take appropriate steps to protect customer units while performing repairs.
o Ensure boats are kept clean and organized during service work.
o Properly store covers, accessories, and customer belongings when removed for repairs.
o Immediately report any accidental damage or concern to management.
Seasonal Workload Expectations:
The marine industry experiences significant fluctuations on workload. During peak service seasons, technicians may be required to work at an increased pace to meet customer demands and service timelines.
Technicians are expected to remain flexible and support the service department during high-demand periods, particularly during spring launch and peak boating and storage season. Efficiency, teamwork, and strong communication are essential during these times to maintain service quality and customer satisfaction.
Additional Responsibilities:
Marine Technicians may be required to assist with other tasks within the service department as needed to support daily operations and overall team success.
The Marine Technician plays a critical role in the success of the service department by ensuring repairs are completed accurately, efficiently, and professionally. Through proper documentation, teamwork, and attention to detail, technicians help maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Pay: $20.00-$50.00 per hour
