Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming Newmarket East is growing, and we are looking for an experienced professional Dog Groomer to join our team.
This position is ideal for a skilled groomer who is confident completing full grooming appointments independently and is looking for a consistent 3-day-per-week schedule in a professional, boutique grooming environment.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, genuinely cares about dogs, communicates professionally with pet parents, and wants to build a loyal long-term clientele.
POSITION: EXPERIENCED DOG GROOMERYour Main Responsibilities
As an experienced groomer, you will be responsible for managing your grooming appointments from consultation through completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing full-service dog grooms independently
- Performing breed-specific and customized pet trims
- Bathing, brushing, drying, clipping, and hand scissoring
- Nail trimming and ear cleaning
- Sanitary trims and paw-pad trimming
- De-shedding treatments
- Light and appropriate de-matting when safe
- Assessing coat and skin condition before grooming
- Identifying grooming or safety concerns before beginning a service
- Safely handling dogs of different breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments
- Maintaining accurate grooming notes for future appointments
- Completing grooming report cards when required
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary grooming station
- Properly cleaning and maintaining grooming equipment
- Following all Woof Gang grooming and safety standards
Client Consultations
Our groomers are directly involved in grooming consultations.
You will speak with pet parents when necessary to:
- Confirm the requested haircut or grooming service
- Evaluate coat condition
- Discuss matting or other coat concerns
- Explain realistic grooming options
- Identify health, skin, behavioural, or safety considerations
- Discuss additional charges when appropriate
- Recommend an appropriate grooming schedule
- Answer grooming-related questions
Clear communication with pet parents is an important part of this position.
Grooming Services & Upgrades
You should be comfortable performing and recommending appropriate services such as:
- Full Grooms
- Mini Grooms
- Luxury Baths
- De-shedding treatments
- Teeth brushing
- Blueberry Pie Facials
- Hypoallergenic grooming options
- Hydrating and conditioning treatments
- Paw and coat treatments
- Other available Woof Gang grooming upgrades
Recommendations should always be based on what is appropriate for the individual dog.

- Have professional dog-grooming experience

- Are confident using clippers, guard combs, and scissors
- Have strong finishing and hand-scissoring skills
- Understand different coat types and appropriate grooming techniques
- Can safely work with dogs of different sizes and temperaments
- Understand canine body language and safe handling
- Have strong attention to detail
- Take pride in producing consistent, high-quality grooms
- Communicate professionally with pet parents
- Are reliable and punctual
- Can work independently while also contributing to a team
- Maintain a clean and professional grooming environment
- Are comfortable recommending appropriate grooming schedules and services
- Are interested in developing a loyal repeat clientele
Experience Required
Applicants should have previous professional grooming experience and be able to demonstrate their work.
Please provide grooming photographs or a portfolio with your application.
Graduates of professional grooming programs are welcome to apply, but this is not an apprentice position. Applicants must already be capable of completing most grooming appointments independently.
Compensation
We offer competitive commission-based compensation based on experience, grooming ability, productivity, and demonstrated skill.
Compensation may include:
- Competitive grooming commission — up to 50%
