The Guillotine Operator is responsible for cutting large printed sheets into finished products using a guillotine cutting machine. This role involves handling full-size print sheets, accurately setting cutting dimensions, and producing high-quality finished pieces in accordance with job specifications. The operator works with high-volume stacks and ensures precision, efficiency, and consistency throughout the process.
This position is currently open and reflects a replacement position due to an internal transfer, promotion, or departure.
The starting pay rate for this position is $25 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity. This range is provided to ensure clarity and promote equitable access to employment opportunities.
Shift Information:
Position 1 - Day Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:30am-2:30pm
Position 2 - Afternoon Shift: Monday-Thursday, 2:30pm-12:30am
Responsibilities:

Operating a guillotine cutting machine to cut large print sheets into finished products based on job requirements

Interpreting job specifications to determine correct cutting sizes and quantities

Loading full-size sheets (e.g., large format print sheets) onto the machine and stack finished materials onto skids

Measuring and inputting dimensions into the machine control panel to achieve accurate cuts

Cutting high-volume stacks efficiently while maintaining precision and quality

Monitoring product quality to ensure finished pieces meet specifications

Maintaining a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures

Collaborating with the bindery/production team to meet production targets
Qualifications:

Previous experience in a printing, bindery, or manufacturing environment preferred

Experience operating cutting equipment (guillotine cutter or similar) is an asset

Strong attention to detail and ability to perform basic math (measurements, dimensions)

Comfortable with physical work, including lifting and handling large paper stacks

Ability to read and follow job instructions accurately

Strong focus on safety and quality standards

Ability to work independently and as part of a production team

Experience in a bindery environment is considered an asset
