Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Integrated Project Compliance Officer to support a construction project in Milton, Ontario. This role combines responsibilities of Environmental Site Lead, LEED Consultant, and Construction Safety Officer.
The successful candidate will act as the on-site authority for environmental compliance, sustainability documentation, and health & safety oversight, working closely with the client’s Environmental Monitor, Project Engineers, and construction teams.
This is a long-term, full-time site position spanning the full construction duration.
Environmental Site Lead Responsibilities
- Serve as the single point of contact for environmental compliance on site
- Coordinate directly with the client’s Environmental Monitor and Project Engineer
- Lead daily start-up meetings to coordinate construction and environmental activities
- Track construction phase modifications and update project schedules as required
- Oversee erosion and sediment control measures
- Monitor noise, vibration, dust suppression, effluent management, and spill prevention
- Track compliance with client’s mitigation measures and approval conditions
- Prepare and submit Monthly Environmental Compliance Reports
- Immediately report non-compliance issues and develop corrective action plans for client’s approval
- Maintain documentation related to mitigation commitments and environmental approvals
- Attend and actively participate in Construction Progress Meetings
- Implement action items with site crews and report progress
LEED / Sustainability Responsibilities
- Manage LEED documentation and compliance requirements
- Track sustainable construction practices and material submittals
- Monitor waste diversion, low-emission materials, and environmental product declarations
- Maintain LEED credit tracking and reporting logs
- Coordinate sustainability requirements with subcontractors and suppliers
- Support LEED audits and certification submissions
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Act as on-site Safety Officer / Site Safety Coordinator
- Enforce Ontario OHSA regulations and company safety policies
- Conduct daily safety inspections and toolbox talks
- Perform hazard assessments and job safety analyses
- Monitor subcontractor safety compliance
- Investigate incidents and near misses
- Maintain site safety documentation and reporting
- Possess authority to stop unsafe work immediately
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3+ years experience in construction environmental monitoring, compliance, or site management
- Demonstrated experience with erosion and sediment control, spill response, dust control, and environmental mitigation
- Construction site experience
- Working knowledge of Ontario environmental regulations and safety legislation
- Strong reporting, documentation, and coordination skills
- Ability to work on-site full time for the project duration
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Certifications (Assets)
- LEED AP or Sustainability Certification
- CRSP, NCSO, or equivalent Safety Certification
- CSO
- Environmental Monitoring or Compliance Certification
- First Aid & CPR
- WHMIS, Working at Heights
