About Soneil Spark: Soneil Spark is building the future of EV charging and distributed energy infrastructure across North America. Our portfolio spans advanced EV charging systems, microgrid energy storage, and smart hardware/software platforms. We are an early-stage, fast-moving cleantech company scaling commercially in a massive, high-growth sector. We operate as a tight-knit team where decisions happen quickly and employees maintain genuine ownership of their domains. This is a high-autonomy environment where the work is technically interesting, the pace is rapid, and what you build has a direct environmental impact.
The role we are hiring a full-time, permanent Electrical Engineer to play a pivotal role in the design, development, and commercial deployment of our electrical hardware architecture. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Engineering, you will bridge the gap between initial prototyping and scalable production. This is an entirely hands-on, office-based role where you will personally own wire-list creation, schematic captures, and vendor-facing design-for-manufacture specifications. If you thrive on deep technical problem-solving and want to see your physical designs manufactured at scale, this is your sandbox.
What You’ll Own:
- Harness & System Design: Personally design and document cable harnesses, wire cut sheets, and wiring systems for EV charging products.
- Component Selection: Select connectors, wire gauges, conduit, and protection components for both high-voltage and low-voltage signal circuits.
- Hardware & PCB Engineering: Own electronics hardware design, executing schematic captures, component selection, and design-for-manufacture reviews for control boards.
- Battery Integration: Support battery system architecture, including cell interconnect layouts, BMS wiring, and pack-level physical integration.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all electrical designs comply with strict industry regulatory benchmarks (UL 2202, UL 9540, IEC 61851, NEC, and UL 508A).
- Vendor & Supply Partnership: Maintain electrical BOMs and schematics while partnering directly with external harness vendors and contract manufacturers during production ramp-ups.
What You Bring:
- 3–5 years of dedicated experience in electrical and electronics design, specifically focused on high-voltage, power electronics, or heavy industrial systems.
- Heavy proficiency with industry-standard electrical CAD platforms (such as Zuken E3, Mentor Capital, AutoCAD Electrical, Altium, or KiCad).
- Clear mastery of wiring standards, including precise calculations for wire sizing, ampacity, derating, and insulation parameters.
- Direct hands-on experience with connector selection and crimp/termination specifications (TE, Amphenol, Molex, Phoenix Contact).
- Familiarity with the lifecycle of UL, CSA, or IEC safety certification pathways and submission procedures.
Nice to Have:
- Direct engineering experience in EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) product development.
- Deep knowledge of EV charging communication logic and control pilot circuit structures.
- Practical familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 guidelines or battery certification protocols (UN38.3).
- Exposure to embedded firmware systems, including C/C++, CAN bus networks, or Modbus protocols.
How to Apply: Please submit your standard resume through our application portal.
Employment Disclosure: Soneil Spark is an equal opportunity employer. To ensure a modern, objective candidate experience, our Talent Acquisition team utilizes specialized software tools during initial resume screening phases to track candidate compliance with minimum core criteria.
