Effortless Perfection Home Care Inc. is expanding our team and building a roster of compassionate, dependable caregivers with hands-on experience supporting children, teens and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental needs.
We are seeking Autism Support Workers, Developmental Service Workers (DSWs), Child & Youth Workers (CYWs/CYCs), Educational Assistants, Behavioural Support Workers, Respite Workers, PSWs with autism experience, and other qualified caregivers with relevant experience. In this vital role, you will create a safe, nurturing environment that promotes growth, independence, and well-being. Duties
- Depending on the individual client’s needs and care plan, responsibilities may include:
- * Before-school support, including morning routines, getting ready for school and school drop-off where required
- * After-school support, including school pickup, supervision, routines and activities
- * Respite care and caregiver relief
- * One-on-one autism support in the home and community
- * Supporting daily routines and independent living skills
- * Supporting communication and social interaction
- * Assisting with transitions and structured routines
- * Supporting individuals with sensory needs
- * Community outings, recreational activities and appointments
- * Medication reminders according to the client’s care plan
- * Meal preparation and mealtime assistance
- * Personal care and hygiene assistance where required
- * Safety and supervision in the home and community
- * Following behavioural-support strategies outlined in the client’s care plan
- * Following each client’s individualized care plan, routines, preferences and safety requirements
- * Providing transportation when required
- * Communicating professionally with families and the Effortless Perfection Home Care team
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
* Previous hands-on experience supporting individuals with autism and/or developmental disabilities
* Patience, compassion and the ability to remain calm and supportive
* Strong reliability and communication skills
* Ability to follow individualized care plans and established family routines
* Current First Aid & CPR certification or willingness to obtain it
* Current Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain one
* Professional references
A valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle and appropriate automobile insurance are strong assets, as some clients may require school transportation, appointments or community outings.
Experience supporting non-speaking individuals, sensory needs, behavioural needs, personal care, community participation and respite care is considered an asset.
Skills
- Experience working with children in educational or caregiving settings, especially those with special needs or autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
- Knowledge of special education principles and strategies for supporting diverse learning styles
- Ability to administer medication accurately following prescribed guidelines
- Strong patient care skills with a compassionate approach to supporting children’s emotional and physical needs
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to pediatric care and autism support services
- Excellent data collection skills for tracking behavioral patterns, progress notes, and other vital information
- Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with families, team members, and healthcare providers
Availability
We are particularly interested in caregivers available for:
* Early mornings / before school
* After-school hours
* Evenings
* Weekends
* Respite shifts
* Community outings
Positions are casual/on-call and based on client matching, qualifications and caregiver availability. Acceptance to our caregiver roster does not guarantee a minimum number of hours.
