Gurulukshmi Vegetarian Restaurant is looking for a reliable, professional, and hardworking Server / Front of House Lead to join our front-of-house team.
This is a hands-on service role with the opportunity to grow into a Duty Supervisor position for the right candidate. We are looking for someone who is willing to work on the floor, take orders, serve guests, support the team during busy periods, and lead by example.
The ideal candidate is friendly, fast, organized, respectful, and calm under pressure. This role is best suited for someone who wants stable, long-term employment and is serious about growing within a busy and well-established restaurant.
Duties
- Greet guests warmly and professionally
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Serve food and beverages with care and attention
- Support front counter, dining room, and takeout service when needed
- Help manage guest flow, wait times, and table service during busy periods
- Assist servers, hosts, runners, and support staff as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of tables, service areas, and dining room
- Communicate clearly with kitchen staff, management, and team members
- Handle guest questions and concerns politely and professionally
- Follow restaurant service standards, hygiene expectations, and company policies
- Support opening, closing, and basic shift duties when required
- Learn Gurulukshmi’s service systems and standards
- Show leadership through reliability, speed, teamwork, and professionalism
Growth Opportunity
Strong performers may be trained and considered for Front of House Lead / Duty Supervisor responsibilities, including:
- Supporting staff during service
- Helping manage service flow
- Handling guest concerns
- Assisting with cash/POS responsibilities
- Supporting closing duties
- Helping maintain restaurant standards during busy shifts
This is not a desk or office management position. The right candidate must be willing to work hands-on with the team and lead by example.
Requirements
- Previous restaurant, customer service, or food service experience is preferred
- Must be reliable, punctual, and professional
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must live in the West GTA or nearby area with a reasonable commute
- Must speak at least one Indian language
- Must be able to commit to long-term employment
- Strong communication and people skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to stay calm, respectful, and organized under pressure
- Experience with POS systems or cash handling is an asset
- Knowledge of South Indian food or Indian restaurant service is an asset
Compensation
Pay: $18–$24/hour
Starting pay: Based on experience, availability, and skill level
Higher pay: Available for candidates who are trained and trusted to take on Front of House Lead or Duty Supervisor responsibilities
