Full job description

Key Responsibilities:

Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with product selection, answering questions, fulfilling custom cutting requests, and processing special orders. Collaborate respectfully with Team Members to create a positive work environment and deliver a World Class Customer Experience.
Cut, trim, grind, and prepare various meat products according to company standards, food safety requirements, and customer specifications while maintaining quality and consistency.
Monitor product freshness and quality by rotating stock using first-in, first-out procedures, removing outdated products, and ensuring all meat products meet merchandising and food safety standards.
Maintain attractive meat displays by merchandising products, ensuring proper pricing and labeling, building displays, and keeping department presentation standards consistent and appealing.
Follow food safety regulations, sanitation standards, WHMIS requirements, and occupational health and safety procedures to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
Assist with inventory management, ordering, waste reduction, shrink control, and accurate tracking of merchandise to support profitability and operational efficiency.
Operate meat cutting equipment and tools safely and effectively while adhering to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Education and Experience:

Completion of high school or equivalent is preferred.
Previous experience in meat cutting, butchery, food processing, or food retail is preferred.
Experience operating meat cutting equipment, grinders, slicers, saws, and related tools is considered an asset.
Food Safety Certification (FoodSafe Level 1 or equivalent) is considered an asset.
WHMIS certification or training is preferred.
Knowledge of safe knife handling, meat preparation, and processing techniques.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Commitment to ongoing learning and development within the retail food industry.
Retail meat department environment requiring prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive movements.
Regular work in refrigerated environments and around sharp tools and equipment.
May be required to lift and carry items up to 25 kg (50 lbs) or more while adhering to safe lifting practices.
