Job Description
Qualifications
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent required
- Successful completion of a Certificate or Diploma in Sterile Supply/Medical Device Reprocessing through a recognized post-secondary educational institution
OR Valid CSAO certificate plus a minimum of 3 months of recent medical device reprocessing experience
- Operating Room Attendant Course preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of infection control principles and medical aseptic techniques
- Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Applicants must possess good oral and written communication skills with the ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Applicants must be totally capable of performing all related duties (frequent standing walking lifting maneuvering heavy loaded stretchers in close quarters operation of specialized equipment)
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Applicants must have demonstrated ability to accept responsibilities work with minimal supervision show initiative maintain good interpersonal relationships and be able to communicate effectively
- Good work performance and attendance record are essential
Responsibilities
The main functions include: decontamination setting up of endoscopes; test equipment before usage of instruments; transport and handling of sterile supplies; housekeeping duties; decontamination of Endoscopy suites; washing and re-stocking of supplies; handling of soiled carts and supplies transport of specimens blood and equipment; complete Endoscopy room set up; positioning of patients; and other duties as assigned.
