Full job description

Nexco Construction is growing with more opportunities for upcoming projects and we are looking to add more operators to our team.

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy machinery and a strong understanding of mechanical systems. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient operation of equipment on job sites, contributing to the successful completion of projects.

Duties

Operate various types of heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, skid-steers, and bulldozers to perform tasks such as excavation work, rock breaking, grading, and aggregate placement.
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Report any mechanical issues or concerns to supervisors promptly for timely resolution.
Follow project plans and specifications to complete tasks.
Collaborate with team members to plan and execute projects efficiently while adhering to safety regulations.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that all tools and equipment are stored properly after use.
Willing and able to assist ground crew when equipment/machine are not in use.

Requirements

Proven experience in heavy equipment operation, specifically with excavators, and bulldozers.
Strong ability to cut to finish grade on excavations, ditches, berms, and slopes; all with a high level of precision.
Experience with GPS is an asset, but training can be provided by Nexco supervisors.
Experience working around multiple utilities.
Knowledge of and adherence of ground disturbance standards and regulations.
Experience in performing daily maintenance and checks on heavy machines.
Valid driver’s license.
Possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on equipment.
Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
A commitment to safety practices and protocols on job sites.
Willingness to travel for projects across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick
