Exit Burnaby
Exit Burnaby is part of a premier escape room network, dedicated to delivering high-stakes, memorable experiences. We are looking for casual, part-time team members (5 to 20 hours per week) to join us as Game Masters, with a long-term working relationship in mind.
Are you an escape room enthusiast? We want team members who live, breathe, and love the industry as much as we do. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, love interacting with people, and have a sharp eye for detail, we want to hear from you!
## Your Role
As a Game Master, you are the heartbeat of our venue. You are a host, a customer service professional, and a problem solver all in one. You will introduce guests to each game's storyline, guide them through their experience, keep our facilities clean and welcoming, and manage the flow of a bustling entertainment space.
You should be comfortable working independently and taking ownership of the venue during your shift. While your primary role is hosting and ensuring the best guest experience, we operate a hands-on environment — candidates who enjoy technical problem solving will be right at home here.
## Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience: Provide a high-energy welcome, clearly explain game rules and storylines, and facilitate fun, engaging experiences for groups of all sizes.
Facility & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, tidy, and presentable store at all times — including lobbies, washrooms, and game rooms — and ensure gaming equipment is perfectly reset between sessions.
Operational Excellence: Manage scheduling and walk-ins with precision and keep the day running smoothly, often with minimal supervision.
Technical Operations: Ensure proper game functionality. This includes performing on-site repairs for puzzles and gadgets, implementing temporary workarounds when necessary, and being dynamic in your approach to technical troubleshooting.
Transaction Management: Handle payments, process waivers, and manage lockers with accuracy and integrity.
Game Facilitation: Read the room to provide perfectly-timed, situational hints that balance difficulty with fun, ensuring gameplay remains engaging, safe, and professional from start to finish.
Guest Engagement & Advocacy: Actively enhance the guest experience by promoting repeat bookings, suggesting back-to-back games, and encouraging guests to share their experience through reviews and referrals.
Requirements
Communication: Fluent in English (a must). Proficiency in a second language is highly valued and considered a major bonus.
Availability: You must be flexible. This role requires availability for evenings and weekends, often with shifts extending until 12:00 AM.
Independence: You work well under minimal supervision, stay self-motivated, and can confidently take responsibility for the venue during your shift.
Character: You are organized, structured, and able to remain calm and professional under pressure.
People Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a natural ability to engage guests and handle feedback with a positive attitude.
Attitude: Passionate about gaming, entertainment, and providing world-class service.
## Technical Bonus
Candidates who enjoy the following will be prioritized:
Handy Work: Comfort with tools such as drills, screws, paint, and general repair work.
Technical Aptitude: A solid understanding of or comfortability working with low-voltage electrical systems is considered a significant asset.
Pay: $18.25-$22.00 per hour
