This is a unique opportunity to join the team dedicated to the upcoming capital construction program at the Revelstoke
Generating Station. Over the next 15 years there is approximately $2B in capital work planned at the station in this area
including the installation of Unit 6 and significant refurbishment and modernization of the original four units. This role will
give you an opportunity to support the redevelopment of one of BC Hydro’s key facilities while demonstrating your technical
skills and ability to work closely with Construction, Engineering, Equipment Testing and Commissioning, and Maintenance
teams.
The Site Engineering team helps develop and oversee all technical aspects of field engineering including development of
plans, schedules, procedures, and methods on high complexity and large construction projects. Our team works with
contractors to assure contract compliance and the application of accepted construction methodology, and to address non-
compliance in the field by bringing design and construction people together. We work closely with design offices and project
engineering teams to get this done, completing field review as their delegates to assure that design intent is met. If you are
a self-starter who enjoys working in the field on large and complex construction projects, then we invite you to join the team.
What you'll do
- Use your technical expertise to get answers to complex technical queries and problems by bringing design engineers and
contractors together to keep construction on track.
- Review and provide input into specifications, construction contracts, test plans, and constructability.
- Perform construction oversight, working with construction management and contractors to ensure proper coordination and
staging of construction activities.
- Perform first-level quality assurance to confirm that the execution of work is in accordance with the plans, specifications,
drawings, and industry standards.
- Witness tests and inspections and document according to ITP's and contract requirements. Complete the field review, and
coordinate witness and hold points for critical components and document these activities in field review records.
- Maintain strong relationships and liaise with different discipline engineering staff, both to conduct field review and to
organize timely resolution of technical issues. You are the eyes and ears of the POR in the field, as their delegate.
- Collaborate with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect
the environment or the safety or health of employees.
- Organize the assigned discipline technical information (redlined construction drawings, RFIs, NCRs), prepare design
change notices, and review conformance records. Prepare construction reports telling the construction story.
- May monitor material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule
