Join our team! This modern medical office is seeking a highly organized, efficient, and motivated medical office assistant (MOA) to work alongside friendly medical doctors (rheumatology and allergy/immunology) in a fast-paced office.
Who are we?
PEAK MEDICAL CLINIC (www.peakmedical.ca) opened mid-March 2022. We are currently a team of 6 medical specialists, 3 nurses and MOAs.
We value evidence-based medicine and positive patient experiences. We strive to create a supportive, effective, and enjoyable work culture. Our medical space is on the top floor of a modern building in Mount Pleasant with floor-to-ceiling windows and an 800sq foot staff patio with sweeping views of the north shore mountains.

Hours? Mon-Fri (40 hours per week; 8-4:30 tentatively with exact start and end times negotiable)

You will take charge of all administrative duties related to patient care for 2 full time doctors. Some minor duties will include administrative assistance with the doctors' UBC faculty positions.
This is a busy position so bring you A game! You will create an efficient schedule for patients and doctors. You will establish strong relationships with other healthcare providers and services in BC to help patients navigate the healthcare system.
Sample of this MOA’s contributions:
- Anticipates and completes all administrative duties for medical doctors
- Ensures positive patient experiences at all points of contact with PEAK MEDICAL
- Schedules and confirms appointments
- Scheduling and orientating trainees
- Maintains updated and accurate patient records
- Electronically documents all MOA encounters with patients
- Completes medication applications and investigation requisitions, and follows up on them
- Annotates and files all incoming documents
- Answers and prioritizes incoming calls from doctors’ offices and patients, takes messages, relays information to doctors
- Comforts challenging patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties, answering patients’ questions, and maintaining the reception area
- Maintains office inventory and equipment; anticipates needed supplies and orders them accordingly
- Access patient information system to retrieve confidential patient data
- Works as a team with other MOAs to provide support to the other doctor(s) if needed
- Identifies areas of improvement at Peak Medical and participates in quality improvement activities
Must have attributes:
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and customer service skills
- 50+ words per minute typing
- Excellent communicator orally and written
- High proficiency with a computer
- Punctual and professional
- Intention to stay with this clinic long-term
- 1+ years of healthcare experience
Nice to have attributes:
- Medical Office Assistant Certification (not required)
- Proficient use of EMR Plexia and Accuro (training provided otherwise)
- Basic understanding of medical terminology
- Additional languages
