Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Production, the Metal Shop Tech is proficient in the manufacturing / fabrication techniques for Weatherhaven shelters and shelter systems. The Metal Shop Tech is required to work in a team environment to assist in the successful execution of projects. The role requires strong working knowledge of metal forming, cutting, welding of steel and aluminum.
Qualifications:
· >5 yrs experience in welding of steel and aluminum members using GMAW.
· >5 yrs of manufacturing tubing components experience. Cutting, Bending, Grinding, etc.
· Strong technical, organization, verbal, and written communication skills.
· Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach.
· Ability to read engineering blueprints and relevant technical documents.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Duties:
· Prepare raw materials for processing into completed assemblies.
· Work with other metal shop staff with a hands-on approach.
· Ensure effective and safe use of equipment, facilities, tools.
· Ensure equipment is maintained and serviceable.
· Follow time tracking procedures using supplied software.
· Follow Inventory procedures to assist in re-order of supplies.
· Operate large stationary cutting, bending, forming tools.
· Operate electric and pneumatic hand tools, - drills, grinders, saws, etc.
· Repeatedly lift up to 30 lbs unaided. Occasionally lift up to 60 lbs with assistance.
· Perform miscellaneous other duties and projects as assigned and required.
