Position Summary
The Banquet Porter is responsible for the physical setup, movement, reset, and breakdown of banquet furniture, staging equipment, meeting room materials, linens, risers, and other event-related assets required for successful event execution. This role also supports cleanliness, safety, and readiness of all function spaces and service areas before, during, and after events.
Core Responsibilities
- Set and reset banquet rooms according to floor plans, event orders, capacities, and turnaround timelines, including early morning, daytime, evening, and late-night setups as required.
- Move, lift, and position tables, chairs, staging, podiums, dance floors, partitions, and other event equipment safely and efficiently.
- Inspect function rooms before and after events for cleanliness, damage, missing items, and setup accuracy.
- Assist with linen handling, equipment staging, storage organization, and event changeovers.
- Remove waste, debris, and unused materials from function spaces, hallways, and service corridors.
- Support rapid room turnovers to ensure readiness for consecutive events.
- Coordinate with banquet servers, captains, stewarding, and janitorial teams to ensure rooms are fully prepared and reset on time.
- Follow direction from supervisors to execute last-minute setup changes or event adjustments.
SOP and Compliance Expectations
- Follow all opening and closing checklists, room setup diagrams, and event order specifications.
- Adhere to safe lifting techniques, equipment handling procedures, and workplace safety regulations at all times.
- Report hazards, damage, missing items, or safety concerns immediately to supervisors.
- Support janitorial and stewarding teams in maintaining clean, safe, and organized function spaces.
- Ensure all storage, staging, and service areas remain orderly and accessible.
- Comply with facility standards for cleanliness, setup accuracy, and turnaround timing.
Qualifications
- Previous banquet setup, porter, event operations, warehouse, or facilities support experience preferred.
- Ability to read and follow room diagrams, floor plans, and written/verbal instructions.
- Strong teamwork, reliability, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This role is physically demanding and requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of heavy equipment. The Banquet Porter must perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, standing, and moving equipment quickly during tight event turnaround schedules. Work is performed in a fast-paced hospitality environment and requires availability for early morning, daytime, evening, and late-night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour
