Shipping & Receiving Supervisor
Location: Brantford, Ontario
Position Summary
We are seeking an exceptional Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to lead all shipping, receiving, warehouse logistics, and material movement activities at our manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Production Manager, this individual will lead a small team responsible for ensuring materials and finished goods move safely, accurately, and on time throughout the plant and to our customers.
This is a demanding leadership role within a complex, high-mix manufacturing environment. We manufacture thousands of products across numerous product families, requiring exceptional planning, coordination, attention to detail, and execution. Success depends on effectively managing a continuous flow of inbound raw materials, outsourced components, and outbound customer shipments while ensuring production has the materials it needs when it needs them.

Primary Responsibilities
Shipping
Plan, coordinate, and supervise all outbound shipments.
Ensure customer orders are shipped accurately, completely, and on schedule.
Verify shipping documentation, labels, packing lists, and bills of lading.
Coordinate domestic and international shipments where applicable.
Optimize freight utilization while coordinating pickups, deliveries, and carrier
performance to meet customer requirements.
Resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and professionally.
Receiving
Supervise all inbound receiving activities.
Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and packing slips.
Ensure incoming materials are inspected, identified, and properly staged in coordination
with Quality Assurance where required.
Ensure receipt transactions are completed accurately and in real time within the ERP
system.
Investigate and resolve receiving discrepancies promptly.
Shipping & Receiving Warehouse Operations
Lead daily shipping and receiving operations.
Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and efficient warehouse.
Improve material flow and reduce unnecessary handling.
Maintain FIFO practices where applicable.
Support warehouse capacity planning and space utilization.
Material Handling
Coordinate the movement of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods
throughout the facility.
Ensure Production receives materials on time while minimizing delays and production
interruptions.
Process Control & Accountability
Own the integrity of all shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions.
Ensure all material movements are accurately recorded in the ERP system in real time.
Monitor workflow to eliminate backlogs and ensure receipts, shipments, transfers, and
returns are completed accurately and on schedule.
Establish standard work, measurable performance expectations, and departmental KPIs.
Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to improve throughput and
accuracy.
Partner closely with Production, Inventory Control, Planning, Purchasing, and Customer
Service to ensure operational priorities are executed efficiently.
Team Leadership
Lead, coach, develop, and motivate the Shipping & Receiving team.
Establish clear expectations and performance standards.
Schedule personnel to meet operational requirements.
Train employees on safe work practices, systems, and standard operating procedures.
Conduct regular performance reviews and ongoing coaching.
Build a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Safety & Compliance
Promote and enforce a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with all health
and safety requirements.
Ensure safe handling, storage, transportation, and operation of material handling
equipment.
Maintain forklift certifications and safe operating practices.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment using 5S principles.
Continuous Improvement
Lead initiatives to improve:
Shipping and receiving accuracy
On-time shipment performance
Warehouse organization and material flow
Dock utilization and loading efficiency
Freight cost optimization
Standard work and visual management
Participate in projects involving:
Barcode systems
Warehouse optimization
ERP improvements
Lean manufacturing initiatives
Material handling improvements
Qualifications
Education
One of the following is preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics,
Operations Management, or a related discipline.
College diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Warehouse Operations, Business, or
Operations.
Professional designation such as CPIM, CSCP, CITT, Supply Chain Canada certification,
or an equivalent logistics credential is considered a strong asset.
Experience
Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive shipping, receiving, warehouse, or logistics
experience in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Experience working with ERP systems and warehouse transactions.
Experience coordinating freight carriers and transportation providers.
Strong understanding of manufacturing material flow.
Experience with barcode scanning systems is preferred.
Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment is considered
an asset.
Technical Skills

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
