Carpenter – Sunbury Fencing & Decking

Responsibilities
- Performing carpentry work including fence and deck construction, repair, and installation to a high standard of quality
- Reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specifications
- Measuring, cutting, and assembling materials accurately and efficiently
- Monitoring daily work progress and meeting project timelines
- Ensuring compliance with safety plans and WorkSafeBC regulations on site
- Problem-solving unique site challenges as they arise
- Maintaining excellent working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and clients
- Taking ownership and pride in the quality and appearance of finished work

Requirements
Education and work experience in carpentry or a related construction trade is required, including one or more of the following:
- Either Red Seal Carpenter certification, enrollment in a carpentry apprenticeship program, or extensive hands on experience in fence and deck construction, framing, forming, or general carpentry through past employment is required
- Past experience as a labourer, framer, or general trades helper is an asset
- Strong practical math skills and precision with measurements is essential
- Ability to safely operate power tools, hand tools, and related equipment
- A valid BC driver's license required — in order to travel to job sites throughout Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley
- Must be fluent in English and have at least 1 year of work experience in Vancouver, BC. Candidates with no work experience in Greater Vancouver will not be considered
- Exceptional work ethic and communication skills
Compensation
Hourly wage: $35.00 –$45.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Opportunities for advancement into a lead hand or supervisory role for the right candidate.

Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
Ability to commute:
Burnaby, BC and Lower Mainland: vehicle and ability to reliably commute (required)
Experience: carpentry and/or construction: 5 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Driver's Licence (required)
- Red Seal Carpenter or Apprenticeship (preferred)
