The Role in One Breath
You run Shopify stores for a living, and you are very good at it. You know the admin cold, you have opinions about themes and apps, and you can read a store's analytics like a story. But you are not only an operator. You are a marketer in a tech person's clothes: someone who builds a sharp plan, sweats every detail, and is just as happy in the theme code or vibe-coding a quick tool as in a strategy doc.
We are looking for that combination to own our Shopify storefronts across two markets, Canada and the US. This is a hands-on, build-and-optimize role, not a hand-it-to-an-agency role. If you like owning the store end to end and making it measurably better every month, read on.
About you
- A Shopify operator first: the admin, themes, collections, metafields, discounts, markets, and the app ecosystem are second nature.
- A marketer at heart: you build kick-ass plans with a clear story, a real strategy, and an outcome you can measure.
- Detail-obsessed: you catch the broken variant price, the dead redirect, and the discount that stacks when it should not, before a customer does.
- A builder who likes coding: comfortable in Liquid, HTML, and CSS, and happy to vibe-code a scrappy tool or AI helper to kill a repetitive task.
- Curious about people: you follow consumer psychology because you genuinely want to know why people buy, not just whether they did.
What You'd Own
You will live in the Shopify admin and treat both stores as products you are always improving, working shoulder to shoulder with marketing, sales, and operations across two markets, each with its own catalog, pricing, and audience.
The Store, End to End
- Run both Shopify storefronts day to day: themes, navigation, collections, templates, and the whole journey from first click to checkout.
- Put Shopify Plus to work, including B2B catalogs, customer-specific pricing, markets, and checkout customization across both stores.
- Keep a large catalog accurate and genuinely useful: descriptions, imagery, specs, variants, metafields, and tiered pricing.
- Own the app stack. Add the apps that earn their keep, configure them well, and retire the ones that do not.
- Handle theme settings and light Liquid, HTML, and CSS yourself, and brief developers when something bigger is needed.
The Plan and the Psychology
- Own the ecommerce plan across both markets: where growth comes from, what gets prioritized, and how you will know it worked.
- Lead merchandising across collections, category pages, and product pages, deciding what gets seen, when, and why.
- Apply real consumer psychology to layout, pricing presentation, and the path to purchase, especially for trade buyers placing larger orders.
- Lead conversion rate optimization: form hypotheses, run A/B tests, and ship the changes that move revenue, conversion rate, and average order value.
The Build and the Automation
- Vibe-code quick tools, scripts, and AI helpers to automate repetitive work so your time goes to the parts that move the needle.
- Use AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT every day, lean on things like Claude Code when it helps, and keep the stores discoverable as search shifts toward AI answers.
- Build, test, and iterate on landing pages and collection pages tied to paid and organic traffic.
- You can build an MCP or two that would connect these items.
The Good Sale
- Own discounts, promotions, and price lists, and make the pricing logic sing across markets and customer groups.
- Plan and build site content for launches, campaigns, and seasonal moments, from idea to live.
- Make sure every promotion is clean, correct, and actually converts, not just loud.
The Wholesale Engine
- Make the bulk-order and quote experience genuinely good for trade buyers, including account pricing and minimum order logic.
- Keep Shopify talking cleanly to the systems behind it, such as CRM, ERP, and fulfillment, so orders flow without drama.
- Work with sales so the store supports account-based selling and easy reorders for existing customers.
Measuring the Wins
- Keep an honest reporting rhythm on the metrics that matter: traffic, conversion, average order value, and site speed.
- Work with operations and the warehouses on inventory accuracy and shipping logic across multiple locations.
What You Bring
- Three or more years running a Shopify store, ideally Shopify Plus, in a real commercial setting.
- Deep comfort in the Shopify admin: products, collections, metafields, discounts, markets, and the app ecosystem.
- Enough Liquid, HTML, and CSS, plus a love of vibe coding, to customize, troubleshoot, and automate without waiting on anyone.
- A marketer's brain: you can build a plan with a clear story, a real strategy, and a measurable outcome.
- A track record in A/B testing, UX, and conversion rate optimization, with results you can point to.
- A real interest in consumer behaviour and the psychology of why people buy.
- Comfort using AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT every day, and curiosity about where AI and search are heading.
- Detail obsession in the best way, paired with the discipline to keep promotions clean and profitable.
