About Us
Mermi Music Academy is an award-winning music school in the heart of Lonsdale, North Vancouver, and one of the highest-rated music academies in North Van. We offer piano, voice, guitar, violin and drum lessons in a warm, modern, fully-equipped studio with a kitchen, teacher rest area, and meeting space. Easy bus and SkyTrain access, surrounded by great coffee shops and restaurants.
We host regular recitals, competitions, and community events, and we’re looking for an experienced Piano Teacher with Vocal Skills to join our team long-term.
What You’ll Do
Teach private piano lessons to students ages 4+, from beginners through advanced levels. Integrate light vocal work into lessons where it fits — sing-along, warm-ups, supporting young singers at the keyboard.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 4 years of piano teaching experience
- Strong knowledge of the RCM syllabus
- Comfortable teaching theory, sight reading, and improvisation
- Ability to incorporate vocal coaching into piano lessons
- Engaging, expressive, and hands-on teaching style — this is not a quiet, sit-still studio; we want teachers who bring energy and personality to every lesson
- Patient, engaging, and great with kids
- Strong English communication
- Reliable and professional
- Background check required before
Nice to have
- Post-secondary music training
- A second instrument (guitar, ukulele, etc.)
- Pop, choir, or contemporary background
- Performance experience
