Full job description

Embryology Assistant

Department: Embryology

Reports To: Lab Director

Location: Vancouver Clinic

Work Schedule: 4-day on, 4-day off rotating schedule; 37.5 hours per week.

Overview:

Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose, and Commitment of Olive Fertility Centre:

This is a position for an Embryology Assistant to perform support and administrative duties at the embryology laboratory at Olive Fertility Centre.

Key Areas of Involvement Include:

Daily Quality Control: perform morning QC in the lab at 7:30am, and report any deviations for corrective action.
Patient Chart review and chart preparation.
Maintenance of progress notes.
Sample labelling and identification.
Dish & embryo identification.
Media preparation and QC.
Data entry.
Selection of embryos to thaw.
Fert check and embryo grading support.
Additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience:

Medical Office Assistant certificate or diploma, or equivalent.
Previous medical office experience or laboratory administration experience.
Previous embryology assistant experience is an asset.

Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in an environment subject to changing deadlines, stress, and focus in a busy environment.
Ability to discuss intimate medical topics in a professional, compassionate manner.
Professional, friendly demeanour.
Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of healthcare professionals.
Ability to quickly adapt to varying needs of organization.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Calm, pleasant demeanour with strong telephone skills: pleasant tone and receptive voice.
Ability to speak and write fluently in English.
