Who we are looking for:
Triple Eight Transport Inc. is looking for a Forklift Operator at our Calgary Warehouse. The Forklift Operator will be responsible for safely operating forklift to move, load, unload, and store materials within the warehouse, truck yard, or distribution center. This role plays a critical part in ensuring smooth operations by managing inventory, maintaining safety standards, and assisting in the efficient flow of goods to and from trucks.
Key Responsibilities
Forklift Operation
- Operate forklifts to move and position heavy loads, including pallets of goods, equipment, and materials, both in the warehouse and on trucks.
- Load and unload trucks efficiently, ensuring all items are handled properly and are in good condition.
- Transport goods to assigned storage locations, ensuring items are securely stored and easy to access.
- Maintain a high level of awareness and safety when operating the forklift in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Inventory Management
- Assist in the organization and management of warehouse inventory by moving materials as needed to ensure proper stock rotation.
- Support inventory counting procedures and help with periodic inventory checks.
- Accurately record inventory movements and report discrepancies to warehouse management.
Safety Compliance
- Follow all safety protocols and warehouse policies while operating the forklift to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of all personnel.
- Perform daily pre-operation checks on the forklift, including inspecting tires, brakes, lights, and fuel levels, and report any maintenance issues.
- Adhere to OSHA guidelines and company safety procedures at all times.
Material Handling & Organization
- Assist in sorting and organizing materials, products, or shipments to ensure they are stacked, stored, and ready for shipment.
- Ensure that goods are handled with care to prevent damage or loss during transport.
- Place goods in appropriate locations for optimal workflow and ease of access.
Loading/Unloading
- Efficiently load trucks based on delivery schedules and maintain an organized approach for truck loading to maximize space utilization.
- Unload incoming shipments and verify accuracy with purchase orders or shipping documentation.
- Stack materials safely and securely to avoid shifting during transport.
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of the forklift to ensure operational efficiency.
- Report any mechanical issues or damage to the forklift to the supervisor for prompt repair.
- Ensure that equipment is stored properly after use to maintain functionality.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of material movements, inventory counts, and forklift inspection reports.
- Assist in tracking shipments and materials in transit by updating records as necessary.
- Report any irregularities, damage, or delays to supervisors in a timely manner.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with warehouse personnel, drivers, and supervisors to ensure a smooth flow of goods.
- Assist in fulfilling urgent or special customer orders as needed.
- Communicate with team members regarding material needs or changes to workflows.
Emergency Response
- Respond promptly and safely to emergency situations, such as accidents, fire alarms, or equipment malfunctions.
Shift Timings: Should be available to work 2:00pm- 10:30pm shift
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Forklift certification required.
- 1-2 years of proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and material handling techniques.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
