The Concurrent Disorder Unit (CDU), opening at the Peter Lougheed Centre, is seeking caring and dedicated Client Care Assistants (CCA) to join our multidisciplinary team. The CDU is a twelve bed inpatient unit intended to support patients with concurrent mental health and substance use disorders. The team will provide evidence based stabilization and recovery-oriented care for adults requiring medical withdrawal management and acute psychiatric stabilization. This will include both voluntary and involuntary patients. As an CCA, you will assist with the admission process supporting patient’s adjustment to the unit, help maintain a safe and structured environment, assist patients with daily living activities and support therapeutic and recreational programming that promotes wellness and engagement. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will play an important part in creating a respectful, culturally safe space for patients during recovery. As a Client Care Assistant, you will work as a team member with all staff assisting in the provision of supportive care to clients with addictions. Your primary duties include providing supportive care to clients, ensuring a safe and secure facility, responding to client requests, communicating effectively with other staff and contributing to a therapeutic environment through interaction with clients. As part of an interprofessional team, you will contribute to the delivery of residential services to persons with an addiction promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. You will support clients to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. You will also work collaboratively with other health and service providers to maintain a safe and supportive environment.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience working with at risk populations in an addiction and/or mental health setting. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and familiarity with Motivational Interviewing techniques required. Understanding of cultural safety and Indigenous health perspectives. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport while maintaining professional boundaries is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of addiction and recovery principles, harm reduction and trauma informed care. Recovery Coach training. Experience working in acute psychiatric inpatient settings, emergency department and/or medically supported detoxification units.
