Junior Carpenter / Carpenter's Helper (Entry Level)

Pay: CA$20.00 - CA$28.00 per hour (based on experience)
About the Role
Are you starting out in the New Build/Renovation industry and looking for a place to build real skills? We're adding a Junior Carpenter to our growing team — someone eager to learn the trade from experienced tradespeople and grow into a skilled role with us.
We are a Calgary-based design and build company specializing in full home renovations, custom home builds, multifamily, additions, kitchen and bathroom remodels, basement developments, and light to medium commercial projects.
Our ideal candidate conducts themselves in a positive and respectful manner. You'll be on job sites where clients are present, so good communication and a professional attitude are important.
What You'll Be Doing
Working alongside and under the direction of our senior tradespeople, you'll assist with:
- General labour duties, including use of hand tools and basic power equipment
- Carpentry support: helping install trim, doors, and cabinets
- Assisting with framing and structural framing
- Assisting with drywall install and taping
- Wall and trim painting
- Assisting with small to medium tiling jobs
- Assisting with flooring installation (LVP, engineered hardwood, prefinished hardwood)
- Site cleanup, material handling, loading and unloading
- Basic plumbing and electrical support tasks (e.g. changing out taps, installing light fixtures) under supervision
- Making Health and Safety the number one priority by following all safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times
- Attending the work site on time, ready to work
As you gain experience, you'll take on more independent carpentry work and expand into additional trades.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma
- 0-2 years of construction, renovation, or related hands-on experience (co-op, labouring, or trade school all count)
- Genuine interest in learning the carpentry trade
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 12kg, frequently lift and/or move up to 23kg, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 45kg
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence
- Reliable transportation to job sites
- Basic hand tools an asset (we can help you build your kit as you go)
- Own PPE, or willingness to obtain
- Safety tickets an asset, not required
- English required
No prior journeyman-level experience needed. Apprentices and recent trade school grads are encouraged to apply.
Schedule
Permanent, full-time. Day shift, Monday to Friday. Hours are weather dependent, and average hours worked depend on available projects. Projects vary from renovations to custom builds. Work location is in person.
