# Christmas Light Installer / Outdoor Climber

**Seasonal Full-Time | mid September–December**

## Love climbing, skiing, working outdoors or working with your hands?
The Light Elves is looking for energetic, dependable people to join our Christmas light installation team for the 2026 season.
This is **not your typical seasonal labour job**.
You’ll spend your days outdoors installing professional Christmas light displays on some of Calgary’s most beautiful homes, large trees and commercial properties. The work involves ladders, rooftops, trees, lifts, tools, problem-solving and working as part of a small crew.
If you’re a **rock climber, skier, snowboarder, arborist, roofer, landscaper, construction worker, outdoor guide, athlete or generally adventurous person**, we want to hear from you.
Previous Christmas light installation experience is **not required**. We can teach the right person how to install lights. We are much more interested in finding people who are dependable, hardworking, comfortable at heights and willing to learn.
## What You'll Be Doing
* Installing professional Christmas lights on homes and commercial buildings
* Installing lights in small and large trees
* Working safely from ladders, rooftops and aerial lifts
* Running extension cords and electrical connections
* Installing wreaths, garland and other holiday décor
* Loading and organizing equipment
* Working outdoors in changing Calgary weather
* Troubleshooting installations and solving problems on site
* Working as part of a 2–4 person crew
* Providing friendly, professional service at clients' homes and businesses

* Fall Protection course - required - can easily do online
* First Aid - an asset
* MEWP - Mobile Elevated Work Platform - an asset for operating the boom

## Positions Available
### Christmas Light Installer
Great for hardworking people who are comfortable outdoors and at heights but don't necessarily have professional installation experience.
### Experienced Installer / Crew Leader
For candidates with strong experience in roofing, climbing, arboriculture, construction, exterior lighting or similar work who can eventually lead a crew and solve installation challenges independently.
## Compensation
**Approximately $20–$38/hour**, depending on experience, ability and responsibility.
People who demonstrate strong leadership, reliability, installation ability and the ability to safely manage difficult installations can earn toward the top of the range.
There may also be opportunities for additional responsibility and seasonal completion incentives for outstanding employees.
## Schedule
This is a **seasonal position from approximately late September through mid-December**, with the busiest period running through October and November.
We are looking for people who can make a strong commitment during the Christmas installation season.
Hours can vary depending on weather and workload. Some longer days may be required during our busiest periods.

You don't have to know how to install Christmas lights on Day 1.
We can teach that.
