Role Overview
As the Executive Director of Compliance and Curriculum, you will provide strategic leadership for academic quality, regulatory compliance, and curriculum innovation across the institution. This executive role is responsible for ensuring the private career college operates in full compliance with all applicable provincial and national regulations, accreditation standards, and Student Aid requirements, including those established by Alberta Advanced Education, the Private Vocational Institutions Regulation, and other governing bodies.
The Executive Director will work collaboratively with senior leadership, faculty, and operational teams to develop, implement, and continuously improve academic programming that meets industry demands, supports student success, and upholds institutional excellence. This role oversees curriculum strategy, compliance management, quality assurance, policy development, institutional reporting, alignment with accreditation bodies, and leadership of teams responsible for new program and product development, while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and regulatory integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
· Provide executive oversight and direction for curriculum development, compliance operations, and academic quality assurance initiatives.
· Collaborate with institutional leadership to align academic programming with organizational goals, workforce trends, regulatory requirements, and student outcomes.
· Serve as the institution’s lead authority on regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, and academic governance.
· Lead cross-functional initiatives that support institutional growth, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
· Ensure alignment with accreditation bodies and regulatory agencies while supporting institutional readiness for audits, reviews, and approvals.
· Lead and oversee teams responsible for new program and product development to support institutional growth and market responsiveness.
Curriculum Development & Academic Oversight
· Lead the design, development, evaluation, and enhancement of curriculum programs to meet industry demands, student needs, and provincial education standards.
· Collaborate with subject matter experts, faculty, and instructional designers to create innovative, engaging, and outcomes-based course materials.
· Ensure all curriculum aligns with Alberta Advanced Education requirements, the Private Vocational Institutions Regulation, accreditation standards, and Student Aid eligibility criteria.
· Oversee regular curriculum reviews and program evaluations to ensure relevance, quality, and alignment with emerging industry trends and technologies.
· Establish standards and frameworks for academic excellence, instructional quality, and learner success.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
· Establish and oversee institution-wide quality assurance systems to evaluate academic delivery, student outcomes, and operational effectiveness.
· Lead internal audits and performance reviews related to curriculum quality, compliance standards, and regulatory accountability.
· Implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the student experience, instructional effectiveness, and institutional performance.
· Monitor key performance indicators and develop action plans to support academic excellence and compliance sustainability.
Leadership & Staff Development
· Provide executive leadership, mentorship, and professional development to academic and administrative teams.
· Foster a culture of accountability, compliance, collaboration, and continuous learning throughout the institution.
· Support faculty and staff in aligning instructional methodologies, assessment practices, and student support services with curriculum objectives and regulatory expectations.
· Promote organizational awareness and understanding of compliance obligations and quality standards.
· Maintain active attendance and participation in national, provincial, and program-specific associations to support industry engagement, regulatory awareness, and institutional leadership.
Reporting & Documentation
· Oversee the preparation and submission of reports, regulatory filings, and documentation required by Alberta Advanced Education, accreditation agencies, and Student Aid authorities.
· Ensure accurate and comprehensive recordkeeping related to curriculum development, compliance activities, audits, quality assurance processes, and institutional approvals.
· Maintain audit-ready documentation and ensure institutional transparency and accountability.
· Provide executive-level reports and recommendations to senior leadership regarding compliance status, academic quality, risks, and strategic initiatives.

Deep knowledge of post-secondary education regulations, accreditation standards, Private Vocational Institutions Regulation requirements, and Student Aid compliance, with the ability to identify and mitigate institutional risk.

Expertise in designing, evaluating, and improving curriculum to ensure academic quality, industry relevance, learner success, and regulatory alignment.

Ability to establish quality assurance frameworks, lead audits and assessments, analyze performance data, and implement continuous improvement initiatives across academic operations.
Leadership, Communication & Stakeholder Management
Strong capability to lead multidisciplinary teams, influence organizational culture, communicate effectively with regulators and senior leadership, and build collaborative relationships with faculty, accrediting bodies, and external partners.
Qualifications & Experience
· Master’s degree in education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum Development, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
· Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in post-secondary education, private career colleges, or regulated educational environments.
· Strong knowledge of Alberta Advanced Education regulations, the Private Vocational Institutions Regulation, accreditation processes, and Student Aid requirements.
· Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, compliance management, quality assurance, and academic leadership.
· Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex regulatory environments, and drive organizational improvement initiatives.
· Exceptional communication, strategic planning, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
· Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, compliance management, quality assurance, academic leadership, and new program development.
· Experience working with accreditation bodies, professional associations, and regulatory stakeholders is considered an asset.
Pay: $90,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
