Position Title: Operations Superintendent
Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Business Unit: Empower Environmental Solutions Calgary Ltd. (wholly owned subsidiary of Northstar Clean Technologies Inc.)
Reports to: General Manager
Shift: Monday to Friday and additional time on weekends as required. Permanent position.

Summary: We are a fast-growing waste-to-value company ramping up shingle reprocessing at our Calgary facility to 100 to 150 tonnes per day in the near term. Our objective is to expand and increase the facility’s total processing capacity to 80,000 tonnes (annualized) in 2026 while operating a 24/7 schedule. We are looking for an experienced Operations Superintendent to play a key leadership role in that growth.
The Operations Superintendent is a salaried role responsible for overseeing the overall operations at our Calgary shingle reprocessing facility. This role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective plant performance, adherence to regulatory and quality standards, achievement of production and financial targets, and the development of high-performing teams. The Operations Superintendent drives continuous improvement initiatives and collaborates with cross-functional departments to optimize plant performance and sustainability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: (Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)
· Oversee all plant-related operations, including production, equipment maintenance, and yard administration ensuring operational efficiency and target achievement.
· Plan and allocate resources, including raw materials, personnel, and equipment, to meet production schedules and business objectives.
· Direct, mentor, and supervise shift supervisors, shift teams, and other staff to ensure consistent and effective operations and foster a culture of accountability and collaboration.
· Evaluate plant performance metrics (KPIs), analyze trends, and implement corrective or preventive measures as needed.
· Identify operational bottlenecks, propose and implement process improvements, and collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to enhance plant productivity and reliability.
· Lead, champion, and actively participate in all site-level HSE initiatives.
· Ensure strict compliance with Company policies, site procedures, and relevant Alberta OHS legislation.
· Promote and enforce safe work procedures, standard operating procedures, and a proactive safety culture.
· Ensure compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and quality standards through systematic inspections, audits, and reporting.
· Foster a culture of situational awareness, risk mitigation, and proactive reporting of incidents.
· Build and sustain strong cross-functional teams capable of adapting to evolving operational demands.
· Lead by example in demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to operational excellence.
· Support long-term strategic planning for plant expansion, equipment upgrades, and operational innovation.
· Analyze production data, labor utilization, and operational costs to identify opportunities for improvement and increased efficiency.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
· Support weekend shifts when required to ensure continuous plant operations.

· Primary qualification is a minimum of 10 years’ experience in industrial operations and management of teams operating in manufacturing, oil and gas, waste management, or environmental services, including supervisory experience.
· Trade certification, engineering technology diploma, or equivalent is preferred but not necessary.
· Proven experience managing multiple teams, including supervisory and frontline personnel.
· In-depth knowledge of Alberta’s OHS Act, Regulation, and Code; experience leading HSE initiatives.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and experience troubleshooting process and production equipment.
· Experience with operational planning, resource allocation, and KPI monitoring.
· Physical ability to perform site inspections and operate powered mobile equipment.
· Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with production reporting systems is an asset.

Language Skills: Be able to read, analyze, and interpret job related information including machine or component drawings and schematics. Write tool requests and justification reports.
Mathematical and Reasoning Ability and Skills: Be able to perform appropriate math functions pertaining to inventory control systems and maintenance disciplines. Collect and accurately assemble data in a logical manner.
