Position Summary:

The position of Recreation Assistant will commit to incorporate our mission, vision, and our values, which are Compassion, Collaboration, Respect, Social Justice, Integrity and Stewardship, and uphold our ethical traditions as foundational aspects in all actions and decision-making.
Reporting to the Recreational Therapist the Recreation Assistant will assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreation and leisure programs to meet the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural needs and interests of the residents. The Recreation Assistant works collaboratively with the healthcare team to promote resident awareness and participation in programs and opportunities and support recreation & leisure programming for the residents.
This position will:
- Model the organizations mission, vision, and values, consistently representing Covenant professionally and positively
- Collaborate effectively as a professional team plater, supporting the achievement of Covenant’s Mission, Vision, and Values
Qualifications:
- Therapeutic recreation diploma certificate required
- One (1) to two (2) years of Therapeutic Recreation experience
- Possess a valid Class 4 driver's license is preferred
- Active membership with ATRA (Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association) is preferred
- Supportive education and certifications are preferred (example: exercise certification, art certification, music certification, de-escalation and behaviour support certification)
- This position requires you to be vaccinated against all required communicable diseases under Covenant's OHS policy
