POSITION SUMMARY:
The Massage Therapist provides high quality, client centred massage therapy services within a collaborative, multidisciplinary clinic environment. This role is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and professional massage treatments that align with regulatory standards, ALTA’s values, commitment to exceptional client care, clinical and operational policies.
As a Massage Therapist, they are accountable for maintaining professional registration, clinical competence, ethical practice, and compliance with all applicable regulatory and clinic requirements, while actively contributing to a positive clinic culture and client experience.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Care & Treatment Delivery
- Assess clients and deliver massage therapy treatments within the scope of practice and in accordance with professional standards and best practices.
- Develop and implement treatment plans that align with client goals, clinical findings, and interprofessional care recommendations where applicable.
- Modify treatment techniques appropriately based on client presentation and response to care.
- Provide a safe, respectful, and professional therapeutic environment at all times.
- Monitor client progress and outcomes, adjusting treatment plans as required and staying connected through follow up communications.
- Identify when a client is not responding to treatment and determine appropriate next steps, including referral to an appropriate clinician, services, and/or physicians.
Client Experience & Professional Conduct
- Welcome clients professionally and contribute to a positive, calm, and supportive client experience from arrival through discharge.
- Maintain client dignity, privacy, and informed consent throughout all interactions and treatments.
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding treatment expectations, outcomes, self-care recommendations, and clinic policies.
- Communicate professionally with clients through approved platforms, e.g., Jane App, secure email, etc., regularly check email and/or Jane App for booking and scheduling changes, and document relevant interactions in the client record.
- Uphold ALTA’s values of professionalism, teamwork, integrity, and client-focused care.
Documentation & Confidentiality
- Complete accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory standards, clinic policies, and requirements within required times (within 24 hours of treatment).
- Ensure documentation of informed consent for assessment and treatment.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all clients’ personal, medical, and financial information in alignment with privacy legislation and professional obligations, e.g., PIPA, Health Information Act, and professional obligations.
Referrals & Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Recognize when a client’s presentation is outside the scope of practice or requires additional investigation.
- Initiate referrals to appropriate healthcare clinicians initially within the clinic and as required, to external healthcare providers (e.g., physicians, specialists, imaging, other allied health professionals) in collaboration with the clinic leadership.
- Collaborate with Client Operations Manager, Client Coordinators, and other clinicians to support coordinated, client-centred care and participate in shared care planning when clients are being co-managed.
Health and Safety of Clients & Operations
- Contribute to a safe, clean, and welcoming clinic environment.
- Prepare and sanitize treatment rooms prior to appointments, ensuring required supplies, linens, and equipment are available and clean.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly treatment environment, including light housekeeping tasks related to treatment spaces, e.g., laundry, sanitizing equipment, general tidiness, etc.
- Conduct your responsibilities following appropriate health and safety protocols with all clients and be aware of the clinic policies to maintain a safe environment in accordance with the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Scheduling & Client Coordination
- Utilize clinic software, e.g., Jane App, for scheduling, charting, appointment management and client communications as required.
- Communicate with front administration regarding scheduling needs or gaps, client follow ups, supply or inventory requirements, or equipment concerns.
- Regularly review clinic communications related to scheduling, policies, or operational updates.
- Accurately report no-shows, late cancellations, and applicable fees in accordance with clinic policy.
Professional Development & Regulatory Compliance
- Engage in regular check-ins and accountability discussions with clinic leadership, including self reflection and goal setting.
- Participate in Clinical Pearls learning sessions and other learning opportunities.
- Maintain active registration and good standing with the applicable massage therapy regulatory association.
- Meet continuing education requirements and pursue ongoing professional development to maintain clinical competence.
- Practice in compliance with all applicable standards of practice, code of ethics, and clinic policies.
Team Collaboration
- Actively collaborate, support, and participate in team meetings, clinic events, and community initiatives as required.
- Collaborate with clinicians and administrative staff to support coordinated, client-centred care.
- Engage positively in a team-based clinic culture, fostering a culture of inclusion and connection, and support clinic-wide initiatives.
Marketing & Community Engagement
- Support clinic growth through professional self-promotion and positive representation of the clinic.
- Encourage client referrals and reviews in a professional and ethical manner.
- Participate in clinic marketing initiatives, including social media engagement, as appropriate to the role.
- Take initiative in building and maintaining a personal client base while contributing to the overall growth and reputation of the clinic.
EDUCATION
- Diploma in Massage Therapy from a recognized and accredited massage therapy program.
EXPERIENCE
- Registered Massage Therapist in good standing with an approved professional association.
- Experience working with diverse client populations and treatment needs is preferred.
- New graduates with appropriate credentials will be considered; prior experience in a multidisciplinary or sports-focused clinic is considered an asset.
- New graduates with strong clinical reasoning skills and a commitment to continuing education will be considered; prior experience in a multidisciplinary or sports-focused clinic is considered an asset.

Pay: $62.50-$75.00 per hour
