Global Head of People
Location: Calgary, Alberta preferred
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Rhodium Digital is looking for an exceptional Global Head of People to join our leadership team and build the people function required for our next stage of growth.
We are a rapidly growing professional services and technology organization serving clients across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and other international markets.
Our work is built around a simple idea: technology should make work better.
We help architecture, engineering, environmental, consulting, and professional services organizations remove the administrative friction that gets in the way of their best work. We want engineers to spend more time engineering, architects to spend more time designing, and talented people to spend more time solving meaningful problems.
Ultimately, our mission is to help create workplaces where people do not dread Monday morning. We believe people should wake up energized by the opportunity to contribute, grow, and make a difference.
We call that making the world better, one Monday at a time.
The Opportunity
This is not a traditional corporate HR role.
You will be Rhodium Digital’s senior people leader, a member of our leadership team, and a trusted advisor to the CEO, executive leaders, managers, and employees.
You will help shape how we grow, how we lead, how we recruit, how we develop people, and how we preserve the entrepreneurial and accountable culture that has contributed to our success.
You will also remain close to the work.
You should be equally comfortable advising the leadership team on organizational design, supporting a manager through a difficult employee matter, reviewing an international employment arrangement, improving an onboarding process, and ensuring that an important employment document is completed properly and on time.
This role is ideal for an experienced HR leader who enjoys building, organizing, improving, and getting things done.
What You Will Lead
People Strategy and Leadership
- Serve as Rhodium Digital’s senior HR leader and primary point of accountability for people-related matters.
- Participate as a member of the leadership team and contribute to business planning, organizational decisions, workforce strategy, and acquisition integration.
- Advise the CEO and leadership team on organizational design, workforce planning, employee relations, compensation, succession, performance, and employment risk.
- Translate business priorities into practical and scalable people programs.
- Help Rhodium grow without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy.
Recruitment and Workforce Planning
- Lead recruitment for roles across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and other markets.
- Partner with leaders to define workforce requirements, candidate profiles, compensation ranges, and hiring priorities.
- Build a professional and responsive candidate experience.
- Develop practical recruitment processes, tools, interview guides, approval workflows, and talent pipelines.
- Help identify and develop internal talent for future opportunities.
Employee Experience and Manager Support
- Establish a consistent employee experience from recruitment and onboarding through development, promotion, and departure.
- Act as a trusted and accessible advisor to employees and managers.
- Coach leaders on performance, feedback, communication, accountability, attendance, workplace conflict, accommodations, leaves, and other employee matters.
- Support difficult conversations, investigations, performance improvement plans, corrective action, and terminations.
- Strengthen manager capability so that people issues are addressed directly, respectfully, and consistently.
Global Employment and Compliance
- Oversee employment practices across Rhodium Digital’s international operations.
- Manage relationships with Employer of Record providers, payroll partners, benefits providers, legal advisors, recruiters, and other employment-related vendors.
- Coordinate international onboarding, employment changes, payroll inputs, benefits, leaves, and offboarding.
- Identify employment, worker-classification, payroll, privacy, immigration, and jurisdictional risks and engage the appropriate professional advisors.
- Maintain reliable records of international employment arrangements, obligations, costs, and renewal requirements.
Performance, Compensation, and Development
- Design and lead a practical performance management approach suitable for a growing professional services organization.
- Help managers establish clear expectations, goals, accountabilities, and development priorities.
- Coordinate compensation reviews, promotions, incentives, and related employee changes.
- Support leadership development, succession planning, and career growth.
- Provide leadership with clear workforce and compensation information to support sound business decisions.
HR Infrastructure and Operations
- Build and maintain the policies, processes, systems, templates, and records required for a scalable global people function.
- Standardize recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee changes, and offboarding.
- Maintain accurate and appropriately protected employee documentation.
- Establish a practical HR calendar covering performance reviews, compensation, benefits, employment agreements, policy updates, and compliance requirements.
- Develop useful workforce reporting without creating reporting for its own sake.
- Reduce the amount of routine people-related administration currently handled by the CEO and other senior leaders.
What Success Will Look Like
During your first year, you will:
- Establish a clear and practical global HR operating model.
- Create a reliable central structure for employee records and documentation.
- Standardize recruitment, onboarding, performance, employee-change, and offboarding processes.
- Review and improve employment agreements, policies, handbooks, EOR arrangements, and compliance practices.
- Implement meaningful workforce reporting and an annual HR operating calendar.
- Improve manager confidence in handling employee matters.
- Strengthen the consistency of the employee experience across countries and teams.
- Materially reduce the people-related administrative burden carried by senior leaders.
- Build an HR function that can scale with Rhodium Digital’s continued growth.
Who You Are
You are an experienced and commercially minded HR leader who understands that good people practices should help a business perform better.
You combine sound judgment with a willingness to roll up your sleeves. You can operate strategically, but you do not believe leadership means delegating every detail to someone else.
You are comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment where priorities evolve, decisions are made quickly, and people are expected to take ownership of outcomes.
You know when an issue can be handled internally and when qualified legal, tax, payroll, immigration, or other professional advice is required.
Most importantly, you care about creating an organization where talented people can do meaningful work, be treated fairly, receive direct feedback, and understand how their contribution matters.
Experience and Qualifications
The successful candidate will bring:
- Approximately 10 or more years of progressive human resources experience.
- Experience serving as a senior HR leader or broad HR generalist within a growing, entrepreneurial, or mid-sized Professional Services organization.
- Experience supporting employees across multiple jurisdictions.
- Direct experience supporting employees in both Canada and the United States.
- Experience with the United Kingdom, Australia, international employment, or Employer of Record arrangements is strongly preferred.
- Strong practical knowledge of employee relations, recruitment, performance management, policy development, compensation, benefits, and employment compliance.
- Experience within professional services, technology, consulting, software, or another project-based organization is preferred.
- Experience building HR processes and infrastructure in an organization undergoing growth or change.
- Experience supporting acquisitions, mergers, or employee integrations is an asset.
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in human resources, business, or a related discipline.
- A recognized HR designation is preferred but not required.
The Capabilities That Matter Most
- Exceptional judgment and discretion.
- Personal accountability and ownership.
- Clear, professional, and direct communication.
- Confidence advising senior leaders.
- The ability to build trust with employees at every level.
- Strong organization and project-management skills.
- Comfort moving between strategic leadership and detailed execution.
- The ability to create structure without creating bureaucracy.
- A practical and commercially responsible approach to people decisions.
- A willingness to challenge respectfully and support decisions once they are made.
