Location: Calgary, AB (On-Site)

Duration: 12-Month Contract

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Senior Data Quality Analyst to join their Data & Analytics team in Calgary. This role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of enterprise data across Microsoft Fabric and data warehouse environments.

The successful candidate will own the end-to-end data validation process, develop automated quality controls, investigate and resolve data issues, and support critical business reporting initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a data professional who is passionate about data quality, testing, governance, and enabling trusted business insights.

Key Responsibilities

Data Quality & Validation

Own and maintain the end-to-end data validation framework across Microsoft Fabric and enterprise data warehouse environments.
Ensure data integrity and accuracy from source ingestion through transformation, storage, and reporting layers.
Design, implement, and maintain automated data quality controls, validation rules, monitoring processes, and alerting mechanisms.
Develop and maintain reusable testing assets, validation frameworks, and quality assurance processes.

Data Testing & Analytics Validation

Develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies for data pipelines, reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions.
Perform data reconciliation activities, including row count validation, sampling, completeness checks, and defect detection.
Collaborate with Data & Analytics stakeholders to define testing plans and validation scenarios for new data assets, reports, and pipeline enhancements.
Ensure all analytics solutions undergo rigorous testing, validation, and documentation before production deployment.

Issue Management & Root Cause Analysis

Identify, triage, and prioritize data quality issues based on business impact and reporting requirements.
Conduct root cause analysis on data defects and collaborate with engineering and business teams to implement sustainable corrective actions.
Facilitate data corrections and remediation efforts with data owners and business stakeholders.
Manage and maintain the Data Quality Issue Log, ensuring effective tracking, prioritization, and timely resolution of issues.

Reporting & Governance

Support critical business reporting, including finance, operations, and investor reporting, by ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
Monitor data quality metrics and trends, proactively identifying anomalies and implementing corrective actions.
Generate regular data quality reports and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

Create and maintain documentation related to data quality standards, testing procedures, validation processes, and issue resolution activities.
Promote best practices in data quality management and governance.
Contribute to a collaborative, agile team environment and support ongoing continuous improvement initiatives across the data function.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience in Data Quality, Data Governance, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or related disciplines.
Strong experience working with enterprise data warehouse environments and modern analytics platforms.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric or similar cloud-based analytics and data platforms.
Advanced SQL skills with experience performing data validation, reconciliation, and root cause analysis.
Experience designing and implementing automated data quality checks and testing frameworks.
Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data lifecycle management, and data governance principles.
Experience supporting enterprise reporting environments and business-critical data assets.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure Data Factory, or related Microsoft technologies.
Knowledge of data governance frameworks and data quality management best practices.
Experience supporting finance, operations, regulatory, or executive reporting functions.
Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.
