The Natural Sciences Program within the Faculty of Science invites applications for a Fall 2026 Term Sessional Instructor for SCIE 311 (Writing and Reviewing Scientific Reports). The appointee will teach one lecture section of Science 311 in the Fall 2026 session.
Science 311 - Writing and Reviewing Scientific Reports teaches students the fundamentals of scientific writing through the completion of scientific literature reviews and a series of active-learning lectures and tutorials.
Students develop a set of transferable written communication skills by:

Reading scientific papers and identifying key conclusions in order to write a well-supported argument.

Searching for scientific information using a wide range of library skills and properly documenting sources.

Recognizing milestones in the writing process and beginning to develop a personal approach to writing.

Identifying essential formatting and style elements of scientific writing.

Giving and receiving feedback throughout the writing process by working effectively with others.
Fall 2026 Term Dates: August 24, 2026 - December 24, 2026
Delivery Mode: All course components will be delivered in person.
Teaching Schedule: L03 TR 15:30-16:45.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in a scientific discipline or with experience teaching scientific writing at the post-secondary level.
