What are We Looking For?
Battle River Power Coop is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Vegetation Manager to support our Vegetation Department by continuing to develop and lead the vegetation management programs and team. We’re specifically looking for an individual who is an exceptional team player, devoted to safety and is committed to providing an exceptional member experience.
This position will be accountable and responsible for direct reporting staff and all activities within the Vegetation Department. Your role as the Manager is to develop long term vegetation removal and maintenance rotation for the best interest of Battle River Power Coop and its Membership. Integral to this position is investigate, develop, implement and manage the Vegetation Maintenance programs, policies, practices and procedures to maximize the life cycle of the distribution system and associated equipment while maintaining an acceptable level of service, reliability and budget.
What will you bring to the Role?
o Ability to both lead and work within a team environment; including leading by example in promoting and applying safe work practices.
o Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with fellow co-workers, our members and contractors; this includes good communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
o Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team or independently as an individual contributor.
o Good organizational and time management skills, able to manage numerous projects and competing demands.
o Knowledge of basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook etc.) and familiarity with design/mapping software (ArcGIS)
Required Qualifications:
o Strong background in Utility Vegetation Management.
o ISA Certified Arborist and/or the willingness to obtain.
o Forestry background would be considered an asset
o Utility Tree Trimmer or Worker Certification in good standing
o Minimum of 5 to 10 years experience in both vegetation and management roles
o Ability to develop and write effective vegetation related programs, policies, practices, and procedures.
o Previous experience in rural power distribution system operations would be an asset.
o Familiarity with Electric Utility Industry & Cooperatives.
Special Conditions:
o Business needs dictate that you must live within the Camrose area.
o The successful candidate will be required to produce a current driver’s abstract.
o This has been identified as a safety sensitive position. The successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
