TITLE: Dietary Attendant STATUS: 0.8 FTE – Permanent Part-time
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dietary Attendant supports the safe and efficient operation of food services by assisting with basic food
preparation, portioning, and the delivery of meals and nourishments to residents. The role also includes maintaining
cleanliness and sanitation of food service equipment, work areas, and dining spaces in accordance with established
health, safety, and infection control standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Grade 10 education and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous experience in food services; experience in a health care setting is preferred
- Food Safe Certification, preferred
REQUIREMENTS:
- Assist in basic food preparation, including making sandwiches, slicing meats and cheeses, and portioning desserts
- Prepare and portion hot and cold beverages for residents’ meals, nourishments, and special functions
- Operate and clean food service equipment such as mixers, blenders, slicers, grinders, deep fryers, and Burlodge
Wagons
- Restock kitchen and dining areas (e.g., napkins, condiments, utensils) as needed
- Receive, store, rotate and properly handle food and supply deliveries, including fresh produce, frozen goods, dairy and
dry items
- Fill daily food requisitions, load supplies onto wagons, and ensure timely distribution to resident areas and departments
SHIFT INFORMATION
Mandatory LAPP membership for permanent Part-time and Full-time employees that work a 0.7 FTE or greater (see policy FS 03-04)
