Full job description

Virtual Horticultural Therapist – Mississauga, ON (Older Adults)

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Horticultural Therapist to provide virtual horticultural therapy programming for older adult participants including individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. This is a rewarding opportunity to support physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being through engaging, horticulture-based experiences delivered remotely.

Responsibilities

Develop and facilitate virtual horticultural therapy programs for older adults
Adapt therapeutic gardening activities for a virtual format using accessible materials
Lead engaging individual and group-based sessions online
Assess participant needs and modify programming accordingly
Collaborate with care staff to support participant goals and session implementation
Monitor participant progress and maintain clear documentation

Requirements

Formal education, training, or certification in Horticultural Therapy
Experience working with older adults, preferably in healthcare, long-term care, or community settings
Experience facilitating virtual programs or online therapeutic groups is an asset
Registered with the Canadian Horticultural Therapy Association (CHTA) Certification required: Horticultural Therapist Technician (HTT) or Horticultural Therapist Registered (HTR)
Understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia-related needs Strong communication, facilitation, and organizational skills
