Verra Health Clinic is seeking a motivated Nurse Practitioner to establish or grow an independent primary care practice within our modern, well-supported Edmonton clinic under Alberta's Nurse Practitioner Primary Care Program (NPPCP).

Compensation and Practice Model
This is an independent practice opportunity under the Alberta NPPCP.
Clinic overhead is 20-25% of applicable NPPCP funding, depending on practice requirements and the level of clinic support provided.
The NP retains:
- 75-80% of applicable NPPCP funding
- 100% of private and non-insured professional fees
- 100% of WCB professional payments
The arrangement will be governed by a transparent written overhead agreement clearly outlining the services and infrastructure provided.

- Administrative practice-readiness support
- Assistance coordinating applicable clinic-level requirements
Whether you are already participating in the NPPCP or preparing to apply, we aim to make the transition into independent community practice as straightforward as possible.
Clinical and Professional Support
Independent practice does not have to mean practising in isolation.
You will work in a supportive primary care environment alongside an experienced family physician who is available for collegial clinical discussion and professional support when appropriate.
The clinic is also supported by knowledgeable administrative staff familiar with community primary care, referrals, investigations, patient communication and day-to-day clinic operations.
The goal is to provide the independence of your own practice while retaining the benefits of a collaborative clinical environment.
Patient Population and Clinical Interests
The opportunity is centred on comprehensive longitudinal primary care across the lifespan.
We welcome applicants with broad family-practice experience and are particularly interested in NPs with experience or interest in areas such as:
- Women's health
- Cervical cancer screening and Pap testing
- Contraception and reproductive health
- Perimenopause and menopause care
- Preventive health and screening
- Chronic disease management
- Mental health
- Pediatrics and family care
- Older-adult care
- Weight management
- Minor procedures
- Same-day and urgent primary care
Applicants are not expected to restrict their practice to these areas.
NPPCP Eligibility
Applicants should be currently participating in the Alberta Nurse Practitioner Primary Care Program or eligible and willing to apply.
Applicants must meet applicable professional and NPPCP requirements, including:
- Active registration and practice permit as a Nurse Practitioner with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
- Appropriate professional liability protection
- Ability to practise independently within the NP scope of practice
- Commitment to comprehensive, medically necessary primary care
- Commitment to build and maintain the patient panel required under the NPPCP, including a minimum target of 900 attached patients
- Ability to meet applicable NPPCP patient-access and continuity requirements
- Participation in required provincial panel-management, CII/CPAR and reporting processes
- Strong communication and professionalism
- Commitment to longitudinal, patient-centred primary care
Current NPPCP approval is an asset but is not required to apply.
NPs who are eligible for the program and preparing an application are encouraged to apply.
