JOB DESCRIPTION: SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGER
Position Title: Supply Chain Manager

Reports To: VP of Operations
POSITION PROFILE
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing all supply chain activities for Union Tractor, with a focus on supporting the parts and service requirements of multi-brand heavy-duty equipment operations. This role oversees procurement, inventory management, logistics, global sourcing, supplier relationships, warehouse coordination, transportation planning, and process improvement initiatives to ensure efficient operations and exceptional customer service.
The position plays a critical role in maintaining parts availability, reducing operational costs, improving inventory accuracy, and supporting equipment uptime for customers across multiple product lines and manufacturers. The Supply Chain Manager will work closely with sales, service, finance, and operations teams to ensure alignment between customer demand, supplier capabilities, and business objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supply Chain Management
· Develop and implement strategic supply chain initiatives that support operational efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
· Monitor and optimize inventory levels to balance product availability with carrying costs.
· Analyze supply chain performance metrics including fill rates, inventory turns, lead times, and supplier performance.
· Collaborate with cross-functional departments to align forecasting, purchasing, and inventory planning activities.
· Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within the supply chain network.
2. Procurement and Supply Management
· Lead procurement activities for parts, equipment components, consumables, and operational supplies.
· Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements with suppliers and vendors to achieve cost savings and operational reliability.
· Establish strong supplier relationships while evaluating supplier performance against quality, delivery, and service expectations.
· Ensure procurement practices comply with company policies, budgetary controls, and industry standards.
· Develop purchasing strategies that minimize supply disruptions and improve inventory availability.
3. Logistics and Transportation
· Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of parts and equipment.
· Manage transportation providers, freight partners, and courier services to optimize service levels and freight costs.
· Monitor shipping schedules, transportation performance, and delivery accuracy.
· Implement logistics solutions that improve operational efficiency and reduce delays.
· Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety requirements, and customs documentation where applicable.
4. Operations and Process Management
· Develop and maintain standardized operating procedures for supply chain and warehouse functions.
· Drive operational improvements through process mapping, workflow optimization, and technology integration.
· Support warehouse operations by improving inventory control, receiving processes, and order fulfillment accuracy.
· Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies to reduce disruptions.
· Participate in strategic planning initiatives to support business growth and operational scalability.
5. Knowledge Management
· Maintain accurate supply chain documentation, reporting systems, and operational records.
· Develop and communicate best practices related to inventory management, procurement, and logistics.
· Provide training and guidance to team members on supply chain systems, procedures, and compliance requirements.
· Analyze operational data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
· Support knowledge-sharing initiatives that improve collaboration across departments.
6. Global Sourcing
· Develop and manage international sourcing strategies to support competitive pricing and product availability.
· Evaluate global suppliers for quality, reliability, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
· Coordinate import/export activities and ensure compliance with international trade regulations.
· Monitor global market trends, tariffs, and supply chain risks that may impact procurement strategies.
· Build strategic supplier partnerships that support long-term operational objectives.
7. Supply Chain Management for the Private Sector
· Ensure supply chain activities align with private sector operational goals, customer expectations, and profitability targets.
· Support business development initiatives through improved product availability and operational responsiveness.
· Implement cost-control initiatives while maintaining service quality and operational performance.
· Contribute to strategic planning and budgeting processes related to inventory, procurement, and logistics.
· Monitor industry trends and competitive market conditions to support business growth.
8. Supply Chain Management for Parts of Multi-Brand Heavy Duty Equipment
· Manage inventory and procurement activities for a wide range of heavy-duty equipment parts across multiple brands and manufacturers.
· Develop forecasting and replenishment strategies that support service operations and customer equipment uptime.
· Coordinate with service departments to prioritize critical parts availability and emergency orders.
· Maintain strong relationships with OEMs, aftermarket suppliers, and distribution partners.
· Monitor obsolete inventory, seasonal demand patterns, and equipment lifecycle requirements to optimize stock management.
Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
· Professional designation such as SCMP, CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent is considered an asset.
· Minimum 5–10 years of supply chain, procurement, or logistics management experience.
· Experience within the heavy equipment, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, or industrial equipment industry is essential, as is direct heavy equipment parts knowledge.
· Strong knowledge of inventory management systems, ERP platforms, and supply chain analytics.
· Excellent negotiation, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
