Role and Objectives:
The Production Coordinator under the direction of the Modular Supervisor is responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, and execution of project production from beginning to end. The Production Coordinator will work closely with related departments including Operations Planning, Operations, and Projects, and Sales Teams. They will develop strategies and processes to maintain consistent execution of projects at a production level.
Responsibilities:
- Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Serve as the central coordination hub for production schedules, create operational plans considering project schedules to ensure seamless execution across construction pre-fabrication processes.
- Extract and interpret data from 3D models (provided by Design Technician), including creation of nesting configurations and exporting production data into various scheduling templates.
- Translate extracted data into clear, actionable production schedules.
- Collaborate and communicate with pre-production teams, design, estimation, project accounting, and project managers to monitor progress against project schedules and ensure milestones are met.
- Determine and manage material SKUs required for production, ensuring inventory decisions align with production plans and operational requirements.
- Monitor and manage fibre and material availability, proactively identifying shortages, constraints, or risks that may impact production.
- Identify scheduling risks and efficiency opportunities arising from material availability or production constraints and communicate required scheduling adjustments to relevant stakeholders.
- Proactively recommend adjustments to original project schedules to improve outcomes, flagging opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement.
- Produce approval documents for customers.
- Produce and issue production documentation used to manage workflow and ensure accurate results.
- Epicor reporting (production stats or production related info)
- Arrange panel and beam combinations (nesting) for production in CAD work and scheduling spreadsheets.
- Review shop drawings and prepare fabrication files.
- Develop appropriate bills of materials within the ERP system.
- Monitor labour and inventory transactions in Epicor, identify discrepancies and make corrective actions.
- Other duties as requested or required.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience in construction, engineering, wood processing or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 18 months’ experience in production scheduling, project coordination, or workflow planning within mass timber manufacturing or comparable prefabricated construction technologies.
- Experience working in Mass Timber and/or Pre-Fabrication of wall panels or modular projects.
- Experience with Epicor ERP software.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer focus.
- Proficient in relevant software applications, including CADworks, MS Office, Excel, and Power BI.
- Ability to read shop drawings and prepare accurate fabrication files.
- Familiarity with Epicor ERP systems, including BOM creation and inventory processes.
- Advanced Excel proficiency, including VLOOKUP and SUMIF functions, with a general understanding of SQL queries and VBA.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities.
- Self‑motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Work Conditions
- On-site role, location: K3 (215 Orchard Ave Castlegar BC).
- Occasional exposure to dust, noise, and fumes when on production floor.
- Occasional exposure to weather when visiting storage yard(s).
- Occasional stooping/bending/crouching, reaching, handling, finger dexterity, walking when completing inventory management related tasks.
- Very occasional use of ladders, or working at heights under 10’, when checking on project inventory, etc.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment will be required when entering production facility or in yard(s) (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.).
- Desk work, with interruptions and an expectation of ability to refocus quickly.
- Ability to occasionally lift 25 lbs.
- Overtime as required.
Compensation Package:
- Salary: $58,560 per year (higher pay may be considered in exceptional circumstances)
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm
