Full job description

Accountant

This role provides the opportunity to contribute across a broad range of accounting functions within a dynamic environment. Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant will support both day-to-day financial operations and ongoing reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

Support the Finance Manager with reporting and daily accounting activities
Manage daily cash processes including balance tracking, forecasting updates, cheque runs, EFT payments, and deposits
Prepare and distribute chargeable hours reports to operations, including adjustments as required
Maintain and update weekly cash flow forecasts using established templates, with regular review alongside management
Prepare weekly management reporting, including cash and liquidity, sales activity, order backlog, labour utilization, and job profitability
Complete month-end activities including journal entries, intercompany transactions, financial statement preparation, analysis, and HST filings
Perform bank reconciliations, including one account on a weekly basis and multiple accounts monthly
Process expense reports and credit card transactions, including payment entries
Assist with budgeting, audit preparation, and year-end inventory counts
Support general administrative tasks such as document filing and responding to supplier inquiries

Qualifications and Requirements

3 to 5 years of accounting experience, with exposure to private enterprise environments; manufacturing experience is an asset
Working knowledge of GAAP and ability to operate in a multi-entity structure
Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance (diploma or degree)
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks or ERP platforms
High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
Progress toward a CPA designation is preferred
