Tilbury Tots Early Learning Centre is seeking an enthusiastic Classroom Educator and Assistant Supervisor to join our growing team! This position requires you to be passionate about working with children, guiding and mentoring our program staff and helping with the every day management of the childcare centre. The successful candidate will have a strong background in childcare along with the ability to ensure that all employees are following through with policy and procedure.
This dual role combines the responsibilities of a Classroom Educator and an Assistant Supervisor (50 % Office 50% Classroom). The individual in this position will be responsible for leading the day-to-day activities within the classroom while also performing administrative duties, staff coordination, and compliance with policies and regulations.
Responsibilities
Classroom Educator Duties
- Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that support the children’s physical, emotional, social and cognitive development
- Maintain a clean, safe and inclusive classroom environment
- Observe and document children’s daily activities and communicate regularly with their families
- Manage classroom routines and transitions effectively
- Support children with special needs and implement the necessary strategies as needed
- Foster a positive and nurturing environment
Assistant Supervisor Duties
- Responsible for the daily operations, including scheduling, staff support and centre organization
- Ensure that the classroom and centre meet all licensing and health and safety regulations
- Mentoring new and current team members as well as supporting and encouraging ongoing professional development
- Act as the point of contact for the centre
- Participate in staff meetings, contribute to program planning, and help resolve staff or parent concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism with all interactions
Qualifications
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education, with two (2) years minimum experience
- Current member of the College of Early Childhood Education in “Good Standing”
- Current First Aid/CPR Level C certification
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Food Handlers Certification
- 2 Step TB Skin Test and up to date immunizations
- Proven experience in both a teaching and leadership role in the early learning settings
- Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and licensing standards
- French speaking is an asset but not required

Physical Demands
- Regular to frequent requirements to lift children up to 50lbs
- Bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, pushing, pulling, sitting and walking
- Noise level can be moderate to loud
