Cheam First Nation is seeking an experienced Community Safety & Enforcement (CSEO) to help in our security department by contributing to the overall alignment and success between CFN’s culture, values, and its community. In this role, the CSEO will be adept at fostering a positive workplace culture while balancing enforcing Cheam laws and land code within the community and surrounding territories.

Cheam determines an individual’s pay based on multiple factors including experience, education, job-related skills, and equity within the team. The compensation range for this role is $23 - $26.75.

A day at work could include:
- Enforce Cheam laws and Land code in the community and surrounding territories
- First responder to a variety of calls from low to high-risk situations
- Protect onsite businesses and natural resources
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services
- Assist the local police when in Cheam community
- Conduct investigations and evidence gathering
- Arrest and detain violators before contacting local police
- Keeping detailed situation & incident logs
- Detailed report documentation
- Patrol designated areas by foot or vehicle in all types of weather, day and night
- Provide information, support, and assistance to community members
- Monitor and report hazards or maintenance issues in the community
Qualifications & Experience:
- 2+ years of enforcement experience preferred
- Advanced Security Training preferred
- First Aid Training Preferred
- Naloxone Training Preferred
- Comfortable kneeling, carrying, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods of time
- Ability to assess need to seek additional supports and resources from Cheam to ensure community safety
- Ability to maintain Confidentiality and abide by Cheam First Nations’ Policies and Procedures
- Knowledge, respect and understanding of Stó:lō culture, traditions and language is considered an asset
