Job Summary
Daedalus Contracting is hiring at
every level— from general labourers looking to break into the trades, to skilled hands and foremen ready to lead a crew.
We specialize in Allan Block retaining walls, paver patios and walkways, concrete forming and flatwork, wood and composite decks, fence installations, and synthetic turf across the Lower Mainland.
We're a fast-growing company and we're building a team for the long haul. If you have a solid attitude, want to learn, and want to grow with us, we want to hear from you — tickets and tools we can build over time; attitude and work ethic we can't.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret site plans, scope drawings, and elevation details to execute work accurately- Build segmental retaining walls (Allan Block, and similar systems) — base prep, leveling courses, drainage, geogrid, capping- Install pavers and slab patios — excavation, base compaction, screeding, laying patterns, edge restraint, polymeric sand-
Concrete forming and flatwork — footings, slabs, walkways, stairs, and small structural pours (form building, rebar tying, pouring, finishing, stripping)- Frame and build wood and composite decks (Trex, cedar) — footings, beams, joists, decking, railings, stairs- Install pressure-treated, cedar, and vinyl fencing — post setting, framing /panel installation-
Prep and install synthetic turf — excavation, base, weed barrier, seaming, infill, edging- Operate hand tools, power tools, plate compactors, mini-excavators, and skid steers safely- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite- Communicate clearly with the foreman, crew, and homeowners
Qualifications
- Experience in landscape construction, hardscaping, carpentry, or a related trade-
Proficient with hand tools and power tools (mitre saw, circular saw, impact drivers, etc.)-
Plate compactor / experience preferred-
Mini-excavator or skid steer experience an asset-
Physically capable of demanding outdoor labour — lifting block, pavers, and lumber; working in all weather
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites- Safety-minded; familiar with WorkSafeBC standards- Tickets/certifications (First Aid, Fall Protection, equipment operator) are a strong asset but not required
Foreman / Lead Hand Candidates
If you have crew leadership experience, we'd like to talk about a foreman or lead-hand position. Additional responsibilities include:
- Running daily site operations and managing a 2–4 person crew- Setting layout, string lines, and grade- QA/QC on retaining wall base, deck framing, and finish work- Tracking material usage and coordinating deliveries- End-of-day site photo documentation and crew clock-out- Communicating with the office on scope changes or site issues
What We're Really Looking For
A solid attitude is more important to us than any single skill. We can teach the trade — what we can't teach is showing up on time, taking pride in your work, treating clients and homeowners with respect, and looking out for the rest of the crew.
If you want to grow with a company that's growing, this is the place. We're actively scaling and there's a clear path from labourer → skilled → multi-skilled → lead hand → foreman for anyone willing to put in the work.
What We Offer
-Competitive wages clearly posted by skill level (see above)- Clear path to advancement — we promote from within as we grow- Work on high-quality residential projects with proper materials and equipment- A team that takes pride in clean, professional builds
