The Pathways Program Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination, supervision, and support of the Cheam Pathways Program. This role provides leadership to staff while working collaboratively various departments and stakeholders.
A core focus of this position is supporting program participants’ wellness by ensuring individualized Wellness Plans are integrated into weekly work schedules. The Coordinator plays a key role in helping participants balance employment, healing, and personal development by supporting attendance at medical, counselling, cultural, and wellness-related appointments.
This position requires a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, land-based healing, and culturally grounded approaches to wellness.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily operations of the Cheam Pathways Program
- Supervise and manage up to 12 staff, providing guidance, support, and performance oversight
- Foster a positive, respectful, and culturally safe work environment
- Support staff with scheduling, attendance, and work expectations
- Work closely and collaboratively with Farm Managers, Maintenance, Supportive Housing, Health Department and Administration to align staffing, schedules, and program needs
- Collaborate with the Health & Wellness Department to integrate wellness supports into the work program
- Coordinate with cultural liaisons, land-based healing facilitators, and community partners
- Participate in team meetings, case planning, and collaborative decision-making
- Ensure each participant has an active Wellness Plan through Cheam’s Mental Health & Wellness Team or partners, incorporated into their weekly work hours
- Support participants in attending appointments such as outpatient detox, counselling, circles, medical appointments, and other wellness services
- Track and coordinate schedules to balance work responsibilities with healing and recovery needs
- Apply trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive approaches in all interactions
- Develop and manage weekly work schedules that reflect operational and wellness needs
- Coordinate transportation for staff and participants as required
- Adjust schedules in response to farming, seasonal, and environmental conditions
- Manage program budget, including tracking expenses and supporting financial accountability
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation as required
- Support planning and resource allocation for program sustainability
Qualifications & Experience
- High level experience coordinating programs and supervising staff (preference for experience managing teams of 10+ employees)
- Strong understanding of Land-Based Healing, Indigenous wellness approaches, and cultural practices
- Experience working with individuals in recovery, healing, or wellness-focused programs
- Understanding around harm reduction and mental health through a cultural lens.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and harm-reduction practices
- Strong organizational, scheduling, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with community partners
- Valid driver’s license and ability to support transportation needs. Restricted or unrestricted Class 4 Driver’s Licence an asset.
- Naloxone Trained or willing to be trained
- Experience with budget management is an asset
- Successful completion of a criminal and vulnerable sector check
Working Conditions
- Primarily on-site at Cheam First Nation, with work occurring in office, farm, and community-based environments
- Regular movement between administrative spaces, land-based program areas, and partner locations within the community
- Outdoor work in varied weather and seasonal conditions, including typical farming environments and uneven terrain
- Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
- May be required to coordinate or provide local transportation
- Work with individuals in recovery and wellness programs, requiring emotional resilience and trauma-informed practice
- Flexible hours required due to farming cycles, environmental conditions, and participant wellness needs
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding Cheam’s cultural values and land-based practices
