HeadHunting Inc. is currently recruiting an experienced Travel Respiratory Therapist (RT) for an exciting hospital-based travel assignment.
We are looking for a confident and adaptable Respiratory Therapist with strong acute and critical care experience, including hands-on experience with ventilated patients, airway management, blood gases, and neonatal and pediatric populations.
The successful candidate will support multiple areas of the hospital based on operational needs, making this an excellent opportunity for an RT who enjoys variety, complex patient care, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Travel Respiratory Therapist, you will provide respiratory therapy services throughout the hospital, including but not limited to:
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Inpatient/Acute Care Units
- Pediatrics
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Maternity
- Other clinical areas based on operational requirements
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory assessments and interventions for patients across the lifespan, including adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations.
- Manage and monitor mechanically ventilated patients, including ventilator setup, settings, adjustments, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with and/or perform endotracheal intubation and advanced airway management within scope of practice.
- Provide manual ventilation/bag-mask ventilation (bagging) during emergencies and resuscitation.
- Obtain, analyze, and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and communicate critical findings to the healthcare team.
- Perform and assist with arterial line insertions as required.
- Participate in emergency response, stabilization, resuscitation, and management of critically ill patients.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement respiratory care plans.
- Provide respiratory support for neonatal and pediatric patients, including critically ill patients requiring advanced respiratory interventions.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow hospital policies, professional standards, and infection prevention practices.
Required Experience
Candidates must have:
- Minimum 2 years of recent Acute Care and/or Critical Care Respiratory Therapy experience within the last 5 years.
- Experience working with neonatal and pediatric populations.
- Demonstrated experience caring for ventilated patients.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Mechanical ventilation and ventilator settings
- Intubations
- Bag-mask ventilation / bagging
- Blood gases / ABGs
- Endotracheal intubation
- Arterial line insertions
Important: The above clinical experience must be clearly documented on your resume to be considered.
Required Licence & Certifications
Candidates must have all of the following current and active:
- CARTA Licensure
- BLS-HCP
- ACLS
- NRP
- N95 Fit Test
- Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) dated within 90 days of the placement start date
Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- 3+ years of Acute Care and/or Critical Care Respiratory Therapy experience.
- Experience independently performing blood gases.
- Experience using the GEM 5000 Blood Gas Analyzer.
- Broad experience working across ICU, NICU, Pediatrics, Maternity, and inpatient hospital units.
