Vacancy Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Community Programs; Fitness and Recreation, it is the role of a Fitness Instructor is to conduct a variety of fitness classes at a variety of locations in the Municipality and ensure the health and safety of all participants. This includes preventing accidents, responding to emergency situations, and demonstrating strong public relation skills.
- Conducting a variety of fitness classes at a variety of locations in the Municipality.
- Monitoring and reporting class attendance and participation.
- Ensuring the health and safety of all participants, including preventing accidents and responding to emergency situations, including administering first aid when required.
- Following all Municipal policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including those specific to the department.
- Current Fitness Leadership Training (OFC, CanFit Pro, YMCA, SFIC or equivalent). Fitness instructors are required to maintain appropriate certifications.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR “C”.
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated.
- Strong public relations, customer service and communication skills (verbal and written).
Legally able to work in Canada.

- Rate of Pay: $39.66 per hour (2026 rate)
- Hours of work: up to a maximum of 24 hours per week including days, evenings, weekends and holidays at any municipally operated Community Services Department facility.
A satisfactory criminal record check with a vulnerable sector screening and proof of qualifications will be required for the successful candidate.
Pre-employment testing may consist of written and oral assessments.
